i still can't get my brain past 300 being a hard to reach score, and they regularly blast past that now

Either India will win this and it will be one of the greatest ODIs ever, or they will smoke 320+ but with an hour to play, everyone will have gone home and the game will be dead.

This is rubbish. 20 wickets have fallen in this series for 1200 runs. An average of around 60 at over 7.25 runs an over. And how many of the 20 wickets have gone to genuinely good bowling? If I were Bumrah, Starc, Hazlewood, Shami or Cummins, if it weren't for the $$$$ I'd give this nonsense away and spare my body for the real stuff.

I know Mitch Marsh is injured, it was a general comment about who I would prefer. Piss off with the snark mate.

Having a balanced team means nothing if the players that are providing balance are no good. I like having Maxwell and a seam bowling all rounder, but Stoinis is awful. MMarsh is also bog average, but having him would provide the same “balance” wouldn’t it? Again, a balanced team with bad players is worse than an unbalanced team with good players.

Ideally they’d play Green at 6, Not Abbott at 7 (shifting Maxwell up to 6), but I’m pretty certain they’ll play Abbott. It leaves our batting thin and I don’t think we can rely on a Smith century at almost 200 strike rate and a Maxwell special every game, so Green seems the better choice to me.

Before getting injured Stoinis was our best option while Marsh is out. Don't confuse Test Marsh with One Day Marsh, totally different players. He averages 35 with the bat and just under a wicket a game at less than a run a ball. Maxwell is perfect where he is atm, give him the last 10-15 overs and let him be free. Green's time will come but he hasn't had enough bowling coming of his back injury yet for the international stage.

****ing nice catch Moses

Fantastic update and cross on Warner's injury which was actually no update whatsoever.

I got roundly criticised in my place for being a grumpy old man - because of my reaction to that cross. It’s up there in the totally inane stakes for mine...

Don't know about you but we are burning a candle in vigil for Warner's groin.

After his Pucovski rejection I plan on burning Warnersss' groin directly.

You're preaching to the choir on ODI Marsh vs Test Marsh, it was the same deal as Watson - people talked him down because he was average in Tests (although we'd love him now), but you could make a legit argument he would be close to our all-time Australian ODI team.

I disagree that Stoinis was our best option. He was beyond awful in the World Cup, he was awful after the World Cup, he was awful earlier this year, but he was picked because he had a good BBL (opening - he will never open for Australia unless there are injuries, so that shouldn't have been used as an argument to pick him again) and a good IPL (fair enough, he was good). I think the main reason he is being picked is because Langer likes playing favourites. Sometimes that works out for you (Labuschagne), most the time it doesn't. I maintain he is a 31yo with questionable character (I know this for a fact, not a hunch), with very little history of performance at the highest level, being picked because he can provide bits and pieces and some higher-ups love him.

Warner out at least until Test series due to injury.

Replaced by Short.

Cummins being managed and won't play again until Test series according to reports.

So I'm guessing Warner will tell the selectors if and when he wants to play not the fitness staff?

Couldn't believe what instead earlier about Pucovski.

But apart from that?

Watto is one of the most underrated cricketers we've had, and it's mostly because of his mismanagement at test level.

Agreed. He was also seen as a selfish player (probably true) so in much the same way as Clarke the Australian public never warmed to him. Amazing striker of the ball and added fantastic balance to the team. Makes the Stoinises and MMarshes of the world look like kids.
