Nup. Don't agree.

I respect him massively as a gun yes but I've seen more talented batsman. Most disciplined and style may be.

Lara for one, Ponting the other etc.

He can't dominate like the very best, he regularly is beaten by good bowling.
Agree. He is a gun, but smaller, roped off, grounds, flat pitches and bat technology has led to overinflated rankings. It's always hard to compare players across eras, but I have a few above him.

Totally agree mate.

It's interesting as I have Jacques Kallis in my top 3.

Gun batsmen.
Handy bowler.
Gun slip fielder.

At their best I take Kallis over Kohli if picking first for my team.

I
Probably #2 behind Lyon for Test selection? Probably would have preferred Agar if this game meant much.

Yeah, think so. Looks like he's matured. Can spin his regulation leggie, unlike Zampa. But of a weird selection still, rewarding his good Sheffield Shield form with a spot in the T20 squad.

Kallis is the most underated cricketer of all time.

Haha......where were you when I needed you years ago mate?!?

Mates used to say Watson better and drove me near crazy. (or they succeeded : )

To me Kallis is one of the best players ever.

Suffered because he could be quite robotic in everything he did, boringly good.

Who, from the era of smaller roped off grounds, flat pitches and bat technology is above him in all 3 formats? I'll call that the era from the advent of T20 so let's say 2005-2020.

I'd say Smith for sure. ABdeV yes. Williamson? Warner??? He's better than Root or any other from England. Again, in really good company there though. From the 90s onward then he's behind Tendulkar, Lara and Ponting for mine. Sangakkara is under-rated. Kallis was better as an all-round cricketer.

It's a good debate. Was Dravid better? Certainly better at Test level for mine given the conditions he played under. Could you argue that in Test cricket Pujara is better? If a batsman getting out would cost you your life, would you rather Pujara batting for you or Kohli?

Roach hit Kallis with a beauty.

Kallis just got on with it whilst Roach lost the plot.

White ball cricket, Kholi is king.

Red ball cricket, he is very good but not top echelon.

I'm a bit of a test tragic, so will admit to undervaluing him in white ball cricket. I'd put him behind all the 90's guys you mentioned, loved Sangkarkrara as well. Just feel that the limited overs game overvalues his talent.

Yeah, you have to separate the red and white ball. Unfortunately with the volume of Indians fans, the narrative becomes Kholi is King at everthing.
