Yea, that's not a great start.

On one hand Burns was stiff. The ball he got out on hit less of the stumps than the one the Head just survived on. But yeah, nah. A bloke with Test average of 37, gets picked with 5 runs in 4 FC innings, and whose 8 today actually improved his FC average this season.

The "it's harder to get out of the side than in it" attitude to selection is nice, but why make a guy fail at this level before he gets dropped? The bloke who missed out, Marcus Harris, has an ordinary Test record so far, but his Shield record this season says he's ready and there were two spots for him to take in this match. But because he failed at Test level against Anderson, Broad and Stokes he's cooked. Burns failed against the might of the South Australia bowling line up but that doesn't matter? Does Shield form matter? Clearly not. It's not like Burns has earned unconditional loyalty. Why play a match with 10 and possibly go 1-0 down before making a change?

Injuries have hit hard, but name an Australian batting line-up worse balanced than this.

One opener not in good enough form to be there, the other has never done the job before at the level ever, the outcome was totally expected, selection committee need to have good long look at themselves.

Burns - form :crossmark:
Wade - opening batsman :crossmark:
Labuschagne - :whitecheck:
Smith - :whitecheck:
Head - his entire Test career
Green - debutant -

At least opening with Harris, Marsh or Khawaja would have added at least another  instead of a :crossmark: for at least one Test before Warner got back.

I've been accused of massive Tas bias on our players and I even thought Wade call completely wrong.

Burns shouldn't be playing - it's as simple as that and never again.

Smith is worse.

Dead set horrible to watch, embarrassing almost.

Both are friends for a reason.
Absolutely. I won’t have anyone tell me Smith is a better player than Kohli. Genuinely, who would you rather pay your money to watch live? Virat all day for mine.

If we’re resorting to Wade, not sure why we didn’t bring Marsh in to open. Yeah I know he’s not the future, but does it matter in Test cricket? Pick your best team.

Smith is a gun but I can't watch him. Bit like Nadal but worse.

Virat far better technically but I have a few above both of them to watch at Test level in recent years.

It's nice to have commentators who actually talk about cricket, but does Mike Hussey have any personality at all?
I strongly doubt it. The whole 'Mr Cricket' nickname suggests he wasn't know for his breadth of conversational topics...

Gilchrist is boring as as well.

Junior and Warne the best combo with O'Keefe stints

I'm not listening to Allan Border ever again.

Would make a wedding seem like a funeral.
