In fairness to him, his role has changed due to a career ending (as far as keeping goes) finger injury.

Would be the test keeper now otherwise.

Certainly would be T20 and maybe ODI keeper, would of been in mix to replace Paine

Was he that good with the gloves? Paine would have played 100 tests if not for Dirk Nannes destroying his finger.

At one stage, second coming of Ryan Campbell,
Very tidy keeping and attacking batsman
Got injured a few years ago, kept getting injured since, last time out for a while which kept him out for over a year
Still have a lot of fondness for him and understand WesternRoo backing him

We were always going to get better from there. I think Paine has been far more important.

Langer's coaching record in WA was very ordinary in the Shield. He got the job because he was one of the boys.

Was let down a lot by key senior players at crucial times...
Hang on...

Yeah.......nah.

Paine deserves his role.

If you are basing your thoughts on Langer from his interviews you probably need to have a bit more of a look into the bloke. He is a hell of a lot smarter than you think.

Well it doesn't look that impressive to me. Nor our batsman under his watch.

Yeah.......nah.

Paine deserves his role.

See comments about about where he would sit in the pecking order choppy, think it would have between Carey & him for the ODI & T20 keeper spots, think he may have been picked ala Wade as a batsman if he had played tests
But agree, it’s Paine spot, don’t think anyone short of Gilly reincarnated would take his spot

Yes totally agree with this.

Whiteman became number 2 when Paine was injured.

Paine the better choice of the 2 both fully fit.

Cover my expenses to fly over and sod the salary

Great. They both come straight in, though am still worried about the long term future of Pucovksi.

I figure there is a worry about his long term future at any level. We know he is susceptible to concussion and will take a bit longer to recover than most. There is also a chance that one more really bad one could see the doctors tell him he should quit. Those things could happen at any level so he may as well play at the highest level.

Assume you’ll take all the glory as well?

Yeah. Head is still a long-term option but Wade is ahead of him atm.

Move Green to 5, Wade back to 6.

If Head can address his technical issues and, to a lesser extent his decision making, then he can be a very good player for Australia. If you looked at all of his dismissals back to back a very large proportion would result from slashes outside off stump with poor footwork and balance.

It's actually funny you write that as I've typed it many times but thought no save myself the grief.

I highly respected his tough batting but he actually speaks like he's had a few too many knocks to the head.

Makes little sense to me a lot of the time.

I've never thought he was bright at all but I didn't want to post it as maybe unfair after ball-gate etc etc

He lost me when he encouraged openness and honesty, and trusting the process, then had a sook when Uzzy pointed out that they're doing everything he asked process wise.

With how spirited this thread is.......

.......if Aust lose the next Test to a Kohli-less India we on here should put in a submission to take over.

Share the salary and work from home.

KiwiRoo you are invited too ; )

Aus is far more likely to lose to a kohli-less india than an india with kohli becaues with kohli in it, india will be looking to K to score the bulk of the runs and if aus could take him out cheaply, then the rest of the line up will fail. Without K, india is forced to step up and also include allrounder to make the team much more balanced. Green did well.......for a 2nd gamer but he was outplayed by Jadeja. J played a really good foil to Rahane and also got cruicial wickets, something green haven't done.

Maybe Wade doesn't play after tweaking his knee the other day.

Langers will back in Head.

head is okay if he is playing against loose teams like pakistan, sri lanka, west indies but against quality oppositions, he won't be score much more than 30 per inning...
