Pant goes on 97 - stiff not to get the ton. Let's see if that starts the collapse.

Yeah, it was a good innings but given he's fit enough to do that, it was pretty sneaky of them subbing in Saha to keep the whole 2nd innings on the basis that Pant was incapacitated.

I don't even have an issue with it tbh. No problems with a keeper stepping in if the selected keeper is injured.

You don't think his 97 today casts any doubt on the impact of his injury?

I think you're being very nice to India. They had their cake and ate it.

feels like a "there's no rule that says dogs can't play basketball" airbud stiuatation

Not particularly, no. He went to hospital, had scans. May have been no structural damage and with Jadeja injured also he probably sucked it up and went out to bat.

If the same happened to us and Paine got injured (presuming no Wade to keep) I think it'd be fair if another keeper from the squad stepped in.

127 off 36 overs. Very doable for India. If they decide to go into their shells and look to save the test they’ll lose. Pretty simple really- attack and go for the w.

Yeah, that would fly unless Paine completely recovered after 24 hours and came in - up the order as a specialist batsman, not even in his normal batting position - hammering all bowlers all over (and out of) the field.

I have no problem with Paine doing that. If he went for scans and there was no risk of further injury, he could come out and blast to his heart's content.

Are you being obtuse? Pant went for scans and it was concluded that he couldn't wicket keep, but literally the next morning he comes in to bat, up the order. They didn't even go through the charade of holding him back down the order to protect his 'injury'.

Look, I agree with the principle of the substitute rule, but in this case it was a straight exploitation of the gulf in wicket-keeping and batting abilities.

I'm not being obtuse, I'm just not particularly bothered by it.

I have seen plenty of blokes with legitimate injuries, too injured to field, come on and do their part with the bat in their usual position (especially those who just blast away).

Especially when Jadeja is ****ed - he was probably told to suck it up and go out there and bat.

I have never once had an issue with it. If it became a recurring them then yeah maybe take a look at it but I don't think with their extremely deleted squad that they picked Saha as 12th man with the intention of Risabh copping a nasty blow to the elbow.

Stuart Clark doesn't have an issue with it, I don't have an issue with it, so don't start with the crap of "you're being obtuse if you disagree with me." Not every disagreement on a footy forum has to be a screaming shitfight mate.

LOL, I was pointing out their opportunistic behaviour. You can keep pretending you don't see it.

Saha wasn't 12th man.

Saha wasn't 12th man.

They also had to call on four sub fielders. They're extremely depleted bud.

I find it plausible that after a day of rest that swelling, inflammation and pain would reduce to allow someone to bat. You don't, and that's cool. You're scratching for a shit-fight but I'm not going to stoop to that.
