Shocking start by the Pakis.

Bowlers are sharp, batsmen have talent, but just not suited to our Gabba pitch.

I knocked Smith as a bad Captain (gun batsman) but this series is easy. We have Ashes next in the UK, we need to improve to win that, Smith Captaincy included.

How did he end up part of a reset?
Cannot keep and his batting is grossly overrated.
Whiteman should have been brought in and should play Boxing Day.

I think they'll bring in S.Marsh but we need 3 spin options for India. Okeefe and Agar in for Bird and Maddinson.

I honestly wouldn't waste our time trying to beat India with spin or pick a series of ordinary spinners for the sake of it.

Holland is probably most suited for sub-continent pitches.
Lyon can't bowl in the sub-continent with his action, Okeefe is average, Agar is horrible.

You saw in the 2004 series you can have an influence with quality pace bowling with reverse swing and clever fields. This should be our objective, to play to our strength , not greatly expose our weakness against the best players of spin in the world.

Have to admire the Pakis - showing more heart here than we did. Question is why we declared? Why give them a sniff? Smith's captaincy might just about be teetering if we lose this. No follow on was more about the crowd and playing an extra day instead of winning a game.
