Have we ever actually seen a proper green pitch over there ?

No. And we probably never will. And that's OK. Different types pitches around the world make the game great. Green tops, dust bowls, bouncy decks, cracks you could lose you cars key in, roads. All good.

But a pitch that breaks up before lunch on Day 1 is not good. A good pitch offers something for everyone throughout the match. We've had some shockers here in Australia. Pitches that don't break up at all and therefore give nothing to bowlers at any stage (MCG 2017). This pitch only offers anything to batsmen who batted before tea on Day 1. It offers nothing to seamers unless they bowled on Day 1.

That this is what India put up on the same ground they got hammered on in the First Test has a stench about it. I have no warm fuzzy feeling towards England cricketers, but the moment Root lost the toss, they were screwed. Everything after it was academic. I don't blame India. Australia could do it more. The Sydney and Brisbane pitches which didn't do anything on Day 5 made for a good contest but cost us a series.

I like the idea that the visiting team automatically wins the toss.

Well I'm glad i mentioned Rohit's innings yesterday, with the current state of the score. It becomes if possible even more impressive.
I've never seen anything like it .

Ben Foakes is a very good cricketer and unlucky not to have played more tests. Far better keeper than either Buttler or Bairstow and holds his own with the bat. FC average of 39.

You want your kids to learn to bat? Watch the Indians as much as that pains me to say it. 0/27 off 5.2 overs and no risks.

Their use of the crease to the spinners is the difference. Right forward and right back and not afraid to leave their crease, even if it is to defend.

Yep very well said. They also get their head over the ball and wait to strike on anything loose. We prefer the sledgehammer approach unfortunately. But they have 711.7 million men to choose from so you'd think their first 11 would be strong lol.

Greg Chappell said in a interview recently that if India ever got their act together they would have the best 5 teams in the world.
