didn't consider De Villiers & Steyn due to injury and selected Shah because I love a leg spinner in a team and he's gone well .Also selected Williamson as an opener at the expense of Cook, as I had to find a place for him somewhere !

I've read the article before commenting.

The fact that the operative word is 'could', rather than 'is', makes me a little sad. The other fact that the entire article is about ratings rather than the comparison of required skills between the two formats and how this affects the international squad makes me a little angry.

And the final fact that it amounts to a nothing piece gives me a headache.

No - after the second ball, most of the crowd got on their feet, then he got the wicket and everyone just roared. It was ridiculous!

It was ridiculous, I was mid rant about how shit finger spinners are who don't have a doosra, not to mention how he doesn't vary his speed or flight nearly enough and then sure enough he rips one and gets a wicket.

I then follow it up with the ultimate reverse market indicater comment as I was ranting to LuvtheKangas about how pedestrian and rubbish Bird is, he then goes and bowls a wonderful 4-5 overs and gets a few wickets.

Matt Wade has created a phenomenon by saying Nice Gary every time Lyon bowls. Made Lyon a cult hero as the public has jumped on board and made it go viral with memes, facebook pages etc.

I'm loving the nice Gary phenomenon. It's fantastic to have a little side act to test cricket.

Lyon despite not being a world beater has been a solid contributor for Australia during a period where we have had very limited spinning options. He deserves a bit of credit and if it comes in the form of "Niiiiiice Gary" for him to be appreciated then I'm all for it!

Heh heh I like it. 220 Test wickets is a good record but there have been too many times where he's had the chance to bowl us to victory and he's been worse than innocuous. Don't begrudge his new found cult hero status though,thanks to Matty Wade.
