Should the thread title be changed?

Agreed: good start. Have to go on with it, though.
Done.

After a rain interruption the match has been shortened and target lessened to 160ish (heard a snippet on the wireless but didn't catch the details).

Cartwright is shit.

How he gets a game, in any format is beyond me. He barely performs for WA.
He made 861 runs at 54 last Shield season, with two 100s and five 50s. He is a park bowler but pretty sure only Cowan bettered him as a batsman in domestic cricket last season.

Touché. Damm research.

I go watch a bit of WA cricket, I definitely didn't see the 100s. It's a decent record I guess.

Still don't rate him.

Mods title change...... nn is back

So had my first hit out yesterday, hadn't touched my bat since last season when I hurled it over the fence and left in disgust- probably was my best shot of the year if I was being honest. New club, fresh starts and all. They heard about my prowess with the bat and decided I'd be a ripper number 3 .

Well I hung in there and did ok,( bloody good bowling attack) we made 8/111 of our allotted 36 overs on a very slow outfield. Probably worth closer to 160 elsewhere.

Well the game needed one of those special moments to help turn the tide albeit briefly. When it comes to fielding I like to set my own spot and basically that is....... field where the ball aint going.

The bloody Captain called me in so I obliged and stepped in about 2 metres off the fence which was a very long boundary ( 100 meters) am unsure how he saw me when I was so far away and was standing directly behind the wicket keeper!

Cutting to the chase I found myself legside 6 meters from the batsman!- Not cool, not cool at all. All I had left was to chant- don't bowl short, don't bowl short, don't bowl short, dont.. shit he's bowled short, chant changed to, don't hit it at me, don't hit it at me- shit he's hit it at me, was down to my last card; don't middle it, don't middle it- BAM!! ****en middled it, so much so I was living my very own episode of 'seconds from disaster'. In fact it was coming at me so fast the batsmen may well have been wearing a black hood and swinging a sickle. Then the unbelievable happened I slowed time ( I must have) I entered the matrix.......

There unfortunately isn't any footage, but this is bloody close-

Only difference is I caught the ****** one handed falling backwards !! Much harder than dodging it. LOL
We lost by two wickets to the reigning premiers- so things are looking better for season 2017/18

Well I know you'd all be hanging for an update on how my cricket career is tracking. Last week if you recall I dodged the man with the sickle. But he's never far away, more on that later.

I arrived early sucked it all in, mental preparation is important went for a walk into the middle and surveyed my surroundings. Was overcast and a bit sticky, I saw Tony Grieg heading my way with what from a distance looked like the weather wall...... turned out it wasn't TG as I remembered he's no longer with us (RIP) it was old dude with a tele, I assumed it wasn't his by the look on his face, but I'm non judgemental. Lets not forget this was Doveton V Dandy West.

Same as the youngsters milling around your vehicle..... a tip they aint hanging around looking for an autograph.

I asked if I could come in at four, which in our team usually means you've around five overs to get ready:rolleyes:. True to form I'm in and we're in trouble deep, strode to the wicket like Viv Richards ( well in my mind) probably was hunched over and dragging my bat tbh.

Well bam nn off the mark with a classic back foot beauty- four!!

Was on fire got to 18 and was thinking the reverse sweep could be on the cards, but decided after I ran my team mate out..... only quick singles I'm involved in are the ones I get credit for- no one has every been congratulated for running well for someone else, I did tell him that.

Anywho took off for another run ( yes was mine) and bang.......... big toe's given way, turf toe by the looks, I mean really I hadn't got close to twenty for years and here I was in total control and it was over. Got myself out a couple of balls later playing off one foot. The man with the sickle smiled, of that I'm sure.
Then all week at work everyone be like oh what you done, I couldn't be bothered explaining , so I just say yeah I've shit myself- squashes the conversation real quick!

I'll be back- stay tuned peeps. Oh we won :thumbsu:

My day was a little bit more dramatic.

We batted first, I was out early. Went to do square leg for a while and listened to our young kids get sledged for 10 overs. After I got replaced we lost a few wickets and one of experienced blokes came in.

He lasted 2 balls before getting a dodgy LBW. He was wild and as the opposition huddled around him, one of their blokes came running in, got right in his face and gave him a spray. My bloke reacted by grabbing him around the throat.

Being captain, I started to run out there to calm the situation but by that time they had separated and he was on his way back to the pavilion.

End result, 3 charges. Dissent, intimidation of an umpire and assault. Went to the tribunal last night.Didn't finish till 11.00. Plead gulity to assault under provacation. Got found not guilty of the other 2 charges. 3 game suspension.

Umpire was a disgrace. Didn't show up to the hearing. Knew he was going to cop a pounding as he didn't turn up until 10 minutes after the scheduled start and I gave him a blast when we were fielding because he was watching a horse race on his phone while my bowler was running in to bowl.

Congrats to double century scorer Ellyse Perry. Now hoping the rest of the team takes advantage.
- :D

Anywho , so after the bye which came at a fortuitous time due to my turf toe injury, oh a big thanks to google for the video on how to tape your big toe when suffering from said injury. We played undefeated Springvale away, a big game as we are closing in on a finals position, we lost the toss  and were sent in, yep first opener 0 , number 3 hung around for a few overs and then nn to the crease.

On the way to the ground I was and have been listing to Johnny Cash and some of the covers he has performed over the years and ONE that resonated with me is U2's ONE, played it a couple of times in the car. Lets just say next week I'll be listening to songs associated with bigger numbers ffs...... Nena 99luft balons sounds like a real toe-tapper.

We play on synthetic wickets and this one is clearly modelled on a fifth day wicket at Hyderabad, seriously ball was rearing of a good length, then keeping low, skidding through or stopping, I won't bother mentioning how much it was seaming- why can't Australian bowlers move it that much? I actually hit one with the bottom of the bat and the ball flew high, i am assuming as about three seconds later it hit me on the head I don't wear a helmet as I find I focus more without one. So yeah........ " thanks ******s for the warning"!

Luckily the tail wagged, although in fairness am not sure our number 11 is any worse than me- all out 134. A very small ground, so defeat likely.

Well **** me- one and a half hours later undefeated Springvale teetering 6/47..... 8/91 and their Captain lookin good, time for Neo. Old nn moves into gully and whack!!!! Oh shit here I go again.........I find myself diving to my left I don't even no why it would have been much safer diving to my right and thump I hit the ground and my left hand feels weird heavy almost I look down and **** me!!! there's a ball stuck in it!!

Two wins on the trot!

Again no footage but this is close enough although looks like two hands were needed.........

As they say catches win matches peeps- nn is in for a big year am aiming for a tenth of a century next game- big call I know.
