Well, like him or loathe him, Chappell is the National Talent Manager so if you need someone to fill in as a selector for a little while, he is the obvious choice. As is Trevor Hohns, already on the selection panel, to step up as chairman.

Neither of these are permanent positions, and CA really need to take their time to get the choice of new selector right. Rushing it is a bad idea.

Well its arguable that him being the National Talent Manager is why cricket is ****ed at this point in time. He did nothing as a coach for the Redbacks, he was ran out of India after 2 years and then saw the Test team here underachieve under his watch before getting the ass.

Sutherland certainly should make sure he hires the right people, as it'll be him walking down the road next if he gets it wrong imo.

On another note, Handscomb a lock?

The Test Team for Next Match but CA won't do it

Warner, Khawaja, White, Smith, Handscomb, Patterson, Wade, Agar, Hazlewood, Starc, Bird

Too many Vics, will be Henriques, Nevill & O'Keefe instead of White, Wade & Agar(injured?). It's why people have lost interest

Easy to lose interest when your players from your state side are putting up good numbers; but when an opportunity arises a chap from NSW will be the player given his chance.

anyone see the footage of the dog on the pitch in india that stopped play.

WK - **** knows. Neville cant bat, Wade can't keep.....Wade...we need the batting
Starc
Hazelwood
Mennie/ Sayers / Bird
Zampa

Warner
Dean/Renshaw
Khawaja
Smith
Handscomb
Patterson
Bancroft (k)
Agar
Hazelwood
Starc
Behrendorff

Young keen and talented side. Dean has a more all round game compared to Burns, while Renshaw is the most in form played at first class level. Handscomb and Patterson have been super consistent over the last two years. Can play big strokes but can also form partnerships, both solid in the field too.

Bancroft as keeper, better on the gloves than Wade better as a batsman than Neville.

How long until Pattinson and Cummins are ready for test cricket again?

The problem though is which of Hazelwood or Starc goes out to accommodate both Pattinson and Cummins? Or do we go back to the days of playing 4 seamers with Smith bowling a few more leggies than he usually does?

I don't think we'll ever see the both of them together in the test side both have been very injury prone across their careers.

They're both still reasonably young so there's still a chance.

It's just so unfortunate that they've both had those significant injury issues. Personally I rated both a lot higher than Starc and Hazelwood, particularly Cummins who looked like was going to be truly special after that debut in South Africa.

That debut was 5 years ago believe it or not...

Starc provides a difference being a southpaw. Ideally our lineup would be Pattinson, Starc, Hazelwood and spinner
