I love watching Peter Hanscombe bat. Not just because he's a Vic, but he is already just about my favourite player in this team.

Good knocks from Renshaw and Handscomb too. Hopefully Handscomb can go on with his.

Going to be a bit of pressure on Maddinson considering how he played on debut.

Both have looked excellent since their debuts imo

Maddinson under real pressure now, but will most likely come in when we are in full control and have a licence.

Looks good so far, but still not sold on his technique. Reckon some Starcesque in-swinging yorkers could undo him, but they undo a lot of right handers.

The individuality of his technique is kind of part of the appeal - we'll see. His temperament and skills have looked very good from the start.

Reminds me a little of Phillip Hughes at the start of his career. Unusual techniques that resulted in them being good square of the wicket, liked to come down the track to the spinners, made a lot of FC runs and had good starts to their careers before being found out a little at the higher level against higher quality bowlers that put more time into studying individual weaknesses.

Obviously that last part only happened to Hughes and is yet to happen to Handscomb but I can see it happening, if that makes sense.

I tell you what as well, it's an interesting time to come in for the new players. Their first match against a strong South African team before a series against a talented, but inconsistent Pakistani attack, then a massive series against India on the subcontinent followed by a home Ashes series next Summer. If they do have any weaknesses they'll be found out pretty quickly.

He is under pressure from Head whom should really be in the side.

Then we could have played 4 quicks.

Head is valuable with his bowling, and his batting is solid but I think he is more suited to ODI's. I wouldn't be throwing him in to the Test arena just yet especially as an all rounder.

I think Kurt Patterson is next in line for that middle order spot. I think he was pretty stiff to miss out in front of Maddinson in the first place.

Pretty cloudy and humid up here in Brisneyland. Hopefully no thunderstorms later this afternoon.

This team has so little heart at times. Should have been looking at 500 plus but caving in like a pack of cards. Probably enough to not lose the game but should have been certain winners.
