What a riveting day of cricket.

It’s gonna be a long boring summer.

Bring on the BBL

More to do with the pitch. It wasn't a normal Gabba track. Very slow and not it usually bounce. Things will liven up today and tomorrow. Next Test in Adelaide the pink ball will hoop around, then we go to Perth. It's going to be a great summer.

Gotta date with Johnny Walker and the cricket today. :thumbsu:

I am disappointed by the GABBA pitch. Usually the GABBA is only 2nd to the WACA for bounce and pace in the pitch. The outfield looks to be in amazing condition but the pitch is offering nothing and only a tiny bit of swing/movement with the new ball. If this is the best the curators around the country can dish up I will be in the "Bring on BBL" camp too

Australian tracks have been meh for years. No consistent pace ,bounce or sideways movement on any test pitch for a long long time
Been a couple of unprepared pitches due to weather. but nothing so far as a traditionally prepared test pitch

when was the last time the Gabba has been a traditional quick bouncy surface ? or Perth ?

The curators have know for a long, long time when the tests were scheduled for. As you said the weather hasn't been ideal but surely there are ways aroud that to still provide a half decent pitch. I wasn't really after mega bouncy pitches or greentops where a side gets rolled for <100, I just wanted a little bit of life in the pitch for both sides and a fair contest between bat and ball. It isn't enjoyable to watch people bat or bowl on a road like surface.

Hottest faves for years and we are struggling at tea. Maxwell in hot form for the Vics. The stories about him as a bloke must be so true - no other reason he isn't in the team. Aussie selectors will have plenty of excuses and be hoping like hell Smith has a big one. Lose this and the selectors ought to all resign.

There's never been before don't see why it'd start now.
He has been dropped before. You cant deny a bloke who is 139* off 170 batting at #3 against the best first class attack in the country (best possible attack outside an international attack)
