I love how they were saying it hit a wet patch, kept low, Johnny was bemused, etc. Mate, if you play down the wrong line to a straight one, you'll be out bowled.

I wouldn't write them off for too long. Yes, they're struggling now and will lose those senior players, but they have also found some good players. Overton looks like he could be a gun, and Stoneman, Vince and Malan have all been impressive with the bat. Apparently the leggie in their squad goes OK, too. Add them to Root, Stokes, Bairstow, Moeen, etc. and it's not all bad news.

Broad and Anderson retiring might be a blessing in disguise for England. They've been great servants, particularly Anderson who goes down as on eof the best ever, certainly in the mix for England's greatest ever bowler, but a bit of fresh, youthful blood might be exactly what they need to get something different and some new ideas in the team. They need to find a genuine quick though, and if they don't pick that Cranie ahead of Ali for the rest of the series then they've got rocks in their head.

I've been disappointed with how mentally weak the Poms have been this series. There's not a lot of difference in the talent stakes when it comes to each teams respective batting lineup, but Australia have just been mentally stronger and more prepared to grind it out.

Our bowling lineup is different class though, particularly when you think that Pattinson is injured and guys like Bird and Sayers aren't getting a game. All three of those guys would walk into England's bowling lineup.

IMO the poms had a stronger unit going into the Ashes series, but they've been comprehensively outplayed by some incredible form by the Aussies.

Interested to get peoples thoughts on how Bradman would go in today's era? Obviously the bats are able to hit the ball further . Pitches are well protected from the elements with covers ect. Boundary ropes introduced. I was debating this with my brother in law and I was of the very strong belief conditions were much harder back in the day
