Stokes moved from NZ at 12 and Roy from SA at 12. Not particularly fair, IMO.

As for Morgan, reckon the ICC should allow a player to return to their home country without having to sit out any penalty if they achieve test status.

And as for the ICC - the more they expand international cricket, the better. Stop treating the associates like shit and you never know, you find find the game becomes truly global.

In isolation you might have a point but in a hand-eye sport that lays down the development pathways very young and a team that has been rife with imports for decades excuse me while I sledge away.

Sri Lankan captain charged with Ball Tampering.

See if they have the balls to ban him, bet there will be silence from the nations who condemned us.

Firstly I'd like to see if Sri Lanka's own cricket body throw the book at him for the betterment of the game.

Done for using the old Mint trick. Looking at a1 match ban if guilty. I haven't seen Michael Vaughn mouthing of on twitter like he did with the Aussies. Still pales into comparison of actually taking a piece of sandpaper out on the field and using it on the ball.

Charge reviewed and modified to "cleaning grass off ball" which now actually qualifies for "bringing game into repute".

Penalty: 3 match payment bonus, Coca Cola sponsorship, walk on part in Bollywood film including residual royalties

In fairness England were missing their Kiwi all-rounder (bowling-batting-street assault) and their South African opener didn't go on with it, mused their Irish captain.

Don't remind me.
. His old man goes to the UK for a rugby league coaching gig and the soap dodgers now claim him as their own

He'd be a real handy pick up for the Kiwi cricket team right now

People don't quite understand what happened in South Africa.

The ICC penalises ball tampering as a medium-level offence because it is temporary in nature - if spotted, you get penalty runs, the ball is changed and we all move on. One or two match ban to try to stop it, but in the grand scheme of things, it's never been that big a deal to officialdom.

The bleating from other countries was about hypocrisy. We put ourselves on a pedestal as the arbiters of what is right and wrong in the cricket so when we do it, of course they'll come gunning for us.

I understand completely.

Doesn't change the fact they wanted penalties which didn't match the crime.

Especially when some of them had multiple offenders playing for them.

What media commentators think is irrelevant.

Chandimal has been charged with the same offence as Cameron Bancroft. Bancroft was not suspended by the ICC. https://www.icc-cricket.com/media-releases/650624
I'm not referring to ICC sanctions, I'm referring to his home country, and the feeling around the other teams.

It's completely different to when it was Australia.

They were penalised for breaching the CA Code of Conduct, specifically:
Steve Smith was charged with a breach of Article 2.3.5 of the CA Code of Conduct based on:

(a) knowledge of a potential plan to attempt to artificially alter the condition of the ball;

(b) failure to take steps to seek to prevent the development and implementation of that plan;

(c) directing that evidence of attempted tampering be concealed on the field of play;

(d) seeking to mislead Match Officials and others regarding Bancroft’s attempts to artificially alter the condition of the ball; and

(e) misleading public comments regarding the nature, extent and participants of the plan

David Warner was charged with a breach of Article 2.3.5 of the CA Code of Conduct based on:

(a) development of a plan to attempt to artificially alter the condition of the ball;

(b) instruction to a junior player to carry out a plan to take steps to attempt to artificially alter the condition of the ball using sandpaper;

(c) provision of advice to a junior player regarding how a ball could be artificially altered including demonstrating how it could be done;

(d) failure to take steps to seek to prevent the development and/or implementation of the plan;

(e) failure to report his knowledge of the plan at any time prior to or during the match;

(f) misleading Match Officials through the concealment of his knowledge of and involvement in the plan; and

(g) failure to voluntarily report his knowledge of the plan after the match

Cameron Bancroft was charged with a breach of Article 2.3.5 of the CA Code of Conduct based on:

(d) seeking to mislead Match Officials and others regarding his attempts to artificially alter the condition of the ball; and

There's a range of stuff in there that goes way beyond ball-tampering, and that's why the penalties were so harsh. They were also needed to restore faith in the Australian team.

Personally, I think Chandimal's actions in keeping the team off the field were appalling and he deserves sanction for that.

Refusing to take the field because they disagreed with an umpires decision is disgraceful and he need needs arse kicked for it. Unfortunately, the ICC will buckle and nothing will come of it.

Chandimal and the Lankans are getting quite the reputation. They played funny buggers over in India when the smog rolled in, earlier in the year.

England should be looking at 400+ here. Just a different class in ODIs to us at the moment.

They're up to 459 already with overs remaining. Absolute carnage in Nottingham on an absolute road of a pitch.

England finished on 6/481 off their 50 overs, eclipsing the previous world record score.

Oh how magnificent it will be to knock them out of next year's World Cup when it actually matters and when we're not playing our seconds team.

That's still pretty impressive TT ..irrespective of who you have out
They're putting together a pretty good ODI team now

but you're right.. they perform well in a "who cares" series and melt like butter when the heat comes on !

Chandimal becomes the 1st person disowned by the ICC for ball tampering, also charged for keeping his team of the field. If Finns guilty he could miss Sri Lankas tour against Sth Africa.

1 Match! What penalty did the ICC want to give the Aussies?

ACB are idiots. Tried to make a statement and the only ones that listened just laughed!

Suspending those muppets was the right call, Warner particularly his behaviour was unchecked for so long he was a law onto himself. CA for the first time in ages showed balls by handling this case, who gives a toss what other countries do.

None of those blokes would have made a difference to what happened last night

I will say the Sri Lankan’s staying in the change rooms should have massive ramifications. They did this when murali got pinged for chucking too.

The ICC laughs in your general direction.
