There are a heaps of my mates from Perth and Adelaide that go (same for the tennis). I went last year and there was as many Poms as there were Aussies at the ground. If Boxing Day was at any other ground it would still be massive.

Tennis, Horse racing, Footy, Cricket, GP, shit even the nrl state of origin draws a crowd and most people here don’t really care about the nrl. Not to forget the crowds of 99k for the man city V Real Madrid and 95k for Melbourne V Liverpool. Also hold the record for a domestic cricket match, BBL Renegades V Stars 80k

But yes, please tell me how other Australian cites rival Melbourne when it comes to sports.

London as an example has a major cricket test, an F1 GP, tennis slam and a football final as its major events. Sounds familiar.

Average attendance at sporting events in Melbourne during h&a, finals or special events (eg NRL SOO) all exceed every other state using any metric you like. Interstate visitors are hardly going to artificially boost all of those figures.
