Yeah, India have bowled & fielded well.

There's a reason why the Vics don't open with Finch in the Sheffield Shield. Hell, if left to their own devices (& with a full squad to pick from), I'm unsure he's in their best 11. Ditto for Siddle, who is 12th man here!

True, but my point was more that national players should theoretically be entrenched in their state team. Siddle has played at the G 2 or 3 times this season and - without knowing the stats from memory - been outbowled by Tremain & Boland. I guess I'm just surprised that he was in the squad in the 1st place.

They try to come up with $$$ million Horse Races to undermine the Melbourne Cup as if that could ever be done

They bitch and moan about the GF every year at the MCG.

We pour millions into the Tennis Precincts to ensure that it is World Class

We are the sporting capital of Australia and that’s about all there is to it.

I am from Cairns QLD. The MCG is clearly one of the best stadiums in the world and easy the best in Aust .The boxing day test should not and will never be moved from Melbourne. Ask anybody from any sporting country everyone has heard of the MCG . Your average Australian could not name each states major stadium but I bet they know the MCG.

This is spot on. Hazelwood and Starc are way overrated - both consistently fall away in their action and don't get the seam upright. Hazelwood constantly bowls too short and Starc is erratic.

They were both outbowled in South Africa and now against India. Their fast bowlers present the seam upright and get more movement.

All that said, this MCG wicket is still rubbish.

Aussies can't blame the pitch.

In saying that though, the Indians are more used to bowling on this sort of pitch than we are. Dead and flat, they attacked the stumps and our batsmen weren't up to it. We bowled defensively wide hoping for them lose patience, play a bad shot and get out. They also have Pujara who plays forward defensive shots in his sleep.

No the wicket is rubbish for good cricket - when someone like Kohli is out there for 3 + hours and can't play his shots and look fluent, it's not a good surface and it doesn't showcase the great aspects of batting - drives down the ground, hooking etc. However, the poor surface doesn't explain why our fast bowlers do not present the seam properly and why our batting is so inept.
