Australia's test opening batsman is incapable of playing an on drive.

He simply cannot meet the incoming angled ball with the full face of the bat.

India could have paid me to work him out.

Geeves has been in the news himself with his front foot over the line detection system. He needs more $$$ to refine it before it can be adopted for use in real matches.

I suspect that there will be a better option than his but at least he's put an invention out there to deal with signalling no balls.

I don't think Geeves is involved in that - it was Peter George who was interviewed yesterday and credited with the idea.

Wade at 6. Mitch Marsh shouldn't be needed to bowl in Sydney. Head can roll a few out if required. Renshaw Can't buy a run in the Sheffield Shield atm. He is the long term answer though, still only 22. Joe Burns for Finch. Averaging 57 in his last 10 hits for Queensland

Took my kids to the WBBL today, Perth vs Sydney Thunder. Three of the top four T20 batters in the world, all of them captain their country, plus another half a dozen or so who played in the World T20 recently. Free entry. Good cricket. Good times.

Too true re: Cummins. And add to that the way the #10 (Lyon) has played was what was needed just as much in the situation. It really is an indictment on the batting line-up.

To be fair, they had all lost their wicket (twice) by the time Lyon showed them up, and no other batsman throughout the test has demonstrated that patience was the only way to build an innings on this surface.

Stop being a bitch. rf08 would own you during the footy season, so maybe you shouldn’t comment when it starts?
Renshaw was in the team only 2 months ago,and only needs one score and he would be in the mix.
Burns and Wade are in the top scores for runs in the shield this year.
Pattinson made a ton last month, so it’s not a silly inclusion.
If it wasn’t for a recent injury to Stoinis I believe he would be the perfect M. Marsh replacement...he’s our future all rounder not Marsh. S.Marsh is still one our best batsman and he stays until Smith comes back in a few months.
