Hohns has to go. He's had the job for years and has never been accountable. Given the level of public interest in the national team, it's not too much to ask for them to explain selection / non-selection decisions, but he refuses to engage.

And I might be in the minority here, but I'm not a JL fan. Comes across as trying too hard to show the world he's a great bloke, but there's not much else going on between the ears (apart from inappropriate WA parochialism).

Apparently there’s a huge disconnect between langer and the state coaches, worse than it’s been in a long time. Larger and McDonald (Vic coach) have it the worst, and are barely on speaking terms.

What's the point of "squads"? I mean, after the disastrous Melbourne Test, they shuffled Handscomb back for Finch and brought in Labuschagne for M.Marsh. But Finch opened and Handscomb came in at 6. M.Marsh was batting at 6 but Labuschagne batted at 3. No one else was considered as "they weren't in the squad" picked for Melbourne AND Sydney. But Labuschagne wasn't in that squad. Then after that, they pick a new squad for Sri Lanka - no Finch, S.Marsh, M.Marsh or Handscomb. Fair enough. But Pucovski & Renshaw there and so's Siddle and Tremain (who have been in every squad this summer). Hazlewood gets injured so surely Siddle or Tremain goes in. No. Richardson leapfrogs both because he got Kohli out twice (once for 104). Pucovski & Patterson play for Australia A and Pucovksi does just OK but not badly(23 & 33*) whilst Patterson shines (157* & 102*). Suddenly Pucovski has to give up the spot he owns as the selectors have a change of heart.

Now, Richardson does very well in the winning Test. Siddle has had a solid career but his time has passed. But Tremain must be miffed though. He won't play in Canberra and now sits behind Cummins, Hazlewood, Starc and Richardson in the pecking order - ie unless he goes all Tonya Harding on one or two of the previously mentioned 4, he might get a trip to the Ashes, but he won't play. Pucovski must be seething. Patterson was as just as OK in the Test as he was in the Australia A game. But Patterson will hold his spot in Canberra and by the time the Ashes are played he'll be competing with Steve Smith to get in the team. We may say he's only 20 and he's time will come but wasn't Siddons in a squad at 20 and never played? Or Lehmann and then waited nearly 10 years? (Although Pucovski won't be competing with the quality Siddons or Lehmann did)

The squads get picked and one minute they are inflexible because of reasons and the next, blokes in the squad get leapfrogged by those outside. All in a home series! What's the friggin' point? Selectors making stuff up on the fly.

Feels a bit like footy when the team is flat-lining and relatively meaningless results (like beating Sri Lanka in a test) paper the cracks in the systems and processes.

Which rocket scientist scheduled a BBL game in Melbourne the night of the first day of school? Looks/sounds like it's family and friends only.

Cricket Australia are going to kill off the BBL with their greedy cash grab by extending the league to 14 games. Finals should be starting now.

And the pitch....
The standard....
Name a player from each the two XIs you'd pay money to watch. It looks and feels like a C-grade game. Look at that shot from Cooper. The whole thing smells of balls.

Marvel pitch has been shite all season
and the quality of the imports have dropped because of the clashing BPL. It might be worth upping the import level to 3 a team to increase the standard. The longer season just makes accentuated these issues.

Head and Burns looking good. Labuschagne batting at 4 is something I just cant understand.

Remember when number 4 (or second drop as we used to call it) was regarded as the slot for the gun batsman in the team? If they're going to hand it out to a "can't bat, can't bowl" so-called all rounder, then they'd be better off sending Pat Cummins in at that position in the order.

I'm hoping Travis Head could make 2nd drop is spot. Great to watch when he's going.
