Other than Harris have we got another opener in the squad? Burns?

Any chance we cull both Bancroft and Warner. Bancroft fielding is off the charts good, but he is a liability with the bat as well.

No, Burns is back home.

Not bad.

labuschagne really impressed me last night, had a pretty decent technique considering he is an all rounder.
Heard on the radio that ML has played all season at a high level and successfully in England, and has spent more time batting in these conditions than any of the England team.

yep, He's been playing for Glamorgan with an average of 61.

Where he’s also been the first county batsman to clock up 1000 runs in both div 1 and 2. Keep him in. I love his fight. Sat on his backside second ball yet he jumped straight up to face Archer as if to say “I’m good. Next!”

He looks far more organised than some of the other Aussie batsmen have this series and his spin could be a handy option on wearing tracks.

Just saw a replay of Root's "catch" to get out Laburschagne (?) er Marnus. In what frickin' universe is that given out?
In the world which allows Joel Wilson to be an umpire despite clearly being not up to it. What a cretin. 'clearly a finger under it' he said.
Joel, you are an imbecile.

Can l ask ? Who is Joel Wilson ?
The guy who had a risibly bad first Ashes test. Should be umpiring in the bush this week, nowhere near another test match.

I only saw the replay on the news the next day. How was that decision possible? And the British captain was trying to justify his and his team's honestly in claiming the catch? G.A.G.F. you twerp British son of a turnip farmer Root.

I should've said the person batting at the time. Using the term "batsman" conjures up a top 4 type.
Anyway, like any cricketer, Joffra better be able to take it!

im sure he will...hes also best equipped to deal it back too, so not sure too many Aussie quicks will want to start a bouncer war with him
He's dangerous...not just the pace, but the bounce. Its been a while since i've seen a quick, pin good batsmen and make it look effortless

Anyone else here play local cricket. If so do u know anything about the rule they r trying to bring in to make everyone wear a helmet?

They tried to bring it last season but there was resistance and our league postponed it.

I haven't heard for sure, but there was talk that they were going to allow you not to wear a helmet but you wouldn't not be insured if something happened.

The insurance is pathetic anyway. No policy disclosure didn't, dodgy AF insurance companies trying to grift claimants out of their entitlements, etc.

Smith ruled out of the 3rd test.

I hope Karma catches up with Jofra.

Mate, our entire strategy last Aussie summer was to bounce players into giving up their wicket. Yep it's awful what happened to Smithy but jofra is just giving us a taste of our own medicine.

I can't remember any of our bowlers forcing their players into retirement and then having them missing the following test. Giving up their wicket is different than forcing them into a near death experience. One death is already enough.

You don't think that that was a plausible outcome when we bowled it at their bloody heads?

We bowled it at their heads, hoping they gave up their wicket or we would force them into a near death experience.

That is exactly what Jofra has done. We have employed seriously aggressive bowling tactics the past few years specifically designed to hurt those who don't give up their wicket. We can't throw stones, especially since the death you referred to should have been more closely etched in our memories than any other nation's.

If 'karma catches up with jofra' (an absurd wish), then it caught up with Smith (who in his captaincy has used these tactics before), and you're hoping it catches up with Cummins, Starc, Pattinson, etc. Be careful what you wish for. I certainly hope no one else gets hurt, but I'm not going to admonish Jofra for engaging in a tactic that the Australian cricket team has contributed greatly to repopularise since the tragedy of Phil Hughes.
