Ben Stokes has confirmed what you said that the ball did indeed clip his front pad first and he was convinced it was going down leg side and he cant believe DRS showed 3 reds. He said DRS got it completely wrong so maybe the ump should be given benefit of the doubt. DRS is just as likely to make a mistake as any umpire. People should be looking at the other missed chances that could have been controlled like the run out if they are looking for reasons. But an innings like that has never been played before. It was something else

Turn it up, it was crashing into the stumps.

I once had to give a nasty captain's report to one umpire. I was at mid off and the bowler was running in to bowl when I heard someone talking. Turns out the umpire was watching the Cox plate on his phone. I stopped our bowler and have him a blast.

Was also the game one of our batsman grabbed an opposition player by the throat after copping a send off.😁

The weak prick reported him, but was too gutless to go the tribunal.

Surely a drinks break could have been arranged.

Only if it was spinning which it wasnt. It hit front pad first not back leg as DRS showed. DRS was taking spin into account and Lyon was not spinning it much so its not as clear cut as first thought. Thats why the umpire gave it not out. Stokes himself has said he thought it was clearly missing and DRS was wrong in its trajectory. DRS can be wrong just like umpires. It is only a prediction at ball tracking. No spin it aint hitting. Watch it in slow motion. Very close either way

No again. The ball tracking line is the actual, physical path of the ball to the point of hitting the pad. The extrapolation is from that point.

For clarity, the part of the diagram where the ball pitches and straightens is the actual movement. The only prediction is the straight line from the point of contact.

I've just realised you probably haven't seen the diagram (and that you're English).

Well if Stokes says he thought it was missing then it must have been missing!

Now Shane Warne's in a Twitter fight with Matt Prior (who, until today, I had forgotten ever played international cricket, so good on you).

Again, England went into this home series firm favourites and on a high for hitting the most boundaries in the world. Now they have managed to not lose the series inside three days of the third test. Australia was serving for match point and instead this is going to a third/fourth set. And they have a good lot of time to get their equlibriuum back as well as their best player. Way too early for the kind of crowing that is going on. Didn't see any of it after Australia went 1-0 up.

Ironically, Matt Prior is probably more relevant now, after one twitter battle, than the whole time he played Test cricket.

When you put it like that it's convincing. More convincing than the umpire who said it was missing at least. Well, about equally as convincing as the umpire who wrongly said it was missing actually, so complete bullsh*t in reality.

Speak to me of Michael Neser. Neser heard of him.

Just a practice match, makes sense as he's the most experienced.

Yeah, I suppose, but it does seem to be rewarding mediocrity.

It's a B team.

Wouldn't surprise me if this game is a bat off between Harris and Khawaja for the last batting spot in the next Test.
