Won’t happen Cricket won’t take a backward step for football and considering well of 70% of local football is played on grounds with Turf wickets on them as turf wickets need between 4 to 6 wickets to ready after been renovated which means no local cricket to after Xmas.
Just won’t happen Cricket Australia won’t let it happen as they allow it to happen they will committing cricket suicide if they do
I think you are probably right but I’m thinking local councils will get a lot of pressure put on them by local footy clubs. Fair chance there will be no local footy at all this year but if they do get going and want to play their finals in October it will be really interesting to see what happens

So it seems like a few local footy leagues are very keen to play their seasons into October and maybe even November. What do the local cricketers in here think of possibly having their cricket season shortened due to an extended local footy season?

**** the footballers, I say.

It's just bad luck, our gtand final got called off because of the virus. Would they move their games so we could play it?

No ****ing way.

Do you think we will be able to go to the cricket this summer, in October after the Coronavirus?

The biggest issue may well be that while we here in Aus are in the “after the Coronavirus” period countries like India and England may not be. We could play back to back to back series versus NZ and attend those to our heart’s content.

Let's merge Australia and NZ comps and call them the World Series then.

Get our own little ANZAC bubble going . Like the sound of that !

Down to 15 new cases today. Most of those already linked to established clusters. So hopefully should exit lockdown next Thursday

Could be years before we play someone decent.

World T20 is in October/November and you'd have to say it was marginal right now, as would be the India test series straight after it.

I wonder if the BCCI will say the World T20 should be scrapped - there's another one in 2021 anyway - and the IPL plays at that time, possibly with no internationals?

Domestic cricket should be OK by then, and even if footy takes the major venues with their delayed season, you could play Shield cricket at the WACA, Karen Rolton Oval, Junction Oval, AB Field, etc.

I read that Adelaide Oval has a new hotel and have approached CA about India staying there in self quarantine and be ready for a test series late this year.

This may have been missed or ignored by many, but the first sighting of test cricket for a while started 4 days back... & it's turned out to be one of those closely contested English matches that often occur:

England: 204
Windies: 318
England: 8/284

So coming into the last day, England lead by 170 runs with 2 wickets in hand. Some low bounce & sharp turn began to occur on day 4, so if that continues, all 3 results are a genuine chance. Oh, and most importantly, the weather forecast is fine!

Yep, gonna be a close one.

England added 29 runs, meaning the target for the Windies is 200.

Halfway through the 2nd session of the last day, the score is 4-100.

Archer's pace & aggression has 3 of those 4 wickets, while he also retired hurt opener Campbell with his very 1st ball of the innings; a yorker resulting in a suspected broken toe. Campbell is yet to return!

Oh & England have also dropped 3 catches!

It's all happening at Southampton. Nice to have you back test cricket.

Shocking news.

He changed the way one day cricket was played with his fielding and running between the wickets.

Never forget when asked Curtly Ambrose to take off his sweatbands when bowling.

Also the pioneer of wearing the "speed dealers" when fielding.

As I kid we always had the full Sunday roast lunch. We always had it around the dining table. Family tradition. TV off. Not this day. In 1990, a player batting like this was unheard of. 145 in an ODI! Dad said we still had to have the roast lunch, but the TV could stay on in the background. Mum said yes but the sound had to be turned down.

He revolutionised ODI cricket. As a Victorian, he was the natural favourite. So sad today.
