They also had to call on four sub fielders. They're extremely depleted bud.
True, I haven't denied that for a second.
However, today proved that Pant could have been on the field yesterday. Conveniently, they had an excuse to sub in the (significantly) better keeper and they took it. If the injury was debilitating enough for that to be a genuine substitution, the (significantly) better batsman wouldn't have been able to make a brilliant 97.
Pant. wasn't. hampered.
he looked in legitimate pain when he first got injured and probably got a hit of the good stuff and a day of icing to reduce swelling. When Jadeja did his finger I imagine those efforts would have doubled.sledging is looking to distract to get an advantage, if foolish works, then it works.Do others find our sledging not at all funny?
I think it's just stupid and makes the players appear foolish.

I don't think we need to be turning up stump mic to just hear every different angle they try with it. But then I don't even like player interviews.
I just think the constant talk is not really sledging though, just stupid.
I'm all for a fast bowler giving a few words but what Wade and Marnus crap on about I just find irritating.
Do you think that 24 hours rest and some nice pain injections would change a person's perception of pain from an impact injury?
I've always thought that something beats saying nothing though...nothing worse than when it's dead quiet in the field on a 35 degree day.
Yes, of course, but not to the extent we saw. Doing what he did today clearly indicates that Pant shouldn't have been off for the entire Australian innings.
Worked out well for them. Saha took heaps of catches. Marnus would probably have made a ton if Pant was keeping.
Look, I'm not overly fussed about it, I'm just not willing to entertain justification of the clearly opportunistic application of the sub rule.
I've seen it happen IRL a few times (one of them myself - cracked wrist in the first week, one of our best fielders subbed in and took a few rippers in the slips - I came out to bat the following week and actually hit them pretty well).
I'm not saying that is directly comparable, but just that you'd be surprised what an injured bloke can do when you throw a bat in his hand and some pain killers IMO
I wouldn't even be questioning it if Pant came back after a week ...
I have no issue with Saha coming in to keep.
However in my view you are out of the match from there and they bat 1 down.
But I can see both sides it's just too easy to exploit imo
3 wickets in 3 sessions of the final innings is deplorable.
