Averages over 40 in test cricket. He’s only had ‘many chances’ because he’s consistently been the scapegoat for poor team performances before forcing himself back into the side. Should never have been dropped before Head in England, and should have been opening the batting all summer imo
Maxwell hasn't played a First Class game since 2019. He may be worthy of a spot, but either through accident or design, his career has become so IPL, BBL and ODI he's pretty much unselectable.

Khawaja has had many chances, highs and lows, but his non selection as an opener in a team with no opening batsmen, when he has the best record as an opener of all current players can only be put down to not being in the blokey clique.

saw this which I thought was interesting:

In his last 18 test innings, he averaged 26. That is droppable form.

He suffers from the same affliction as Travis Head, consistently knicks off to what are perceived to be lazy wafts outside off stump.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Renshaw comes again and gets another chance at some stage. Anyone who can make 184 in a test innings has something about them.

Agree with both points.

Renshaw was a bit hard done by and Langer white-anted him. His average innings as an opener in the test team was 75 deliveries. I suspect he would be better off moving states.

He’s already moved to Adelaide for the BBL, perhaps he should make it permanent. There’s a spot there opening alongside Henry Hunt, plus SA’s batting is putrid, even more so now that Ferguson has retired from FC cricket.

There’s a few guys who could do well with a move to SA

gee wiz, what an imposter

Nathan Lyon - has a record ever flattered anyone more than this dodo? Marcus Labuschagne is a better spinner than Orgasmo. But I suppose it's hard to drop Orgasmo - I mean, he sings the song afterwards.

We have 2 phenomenal pace bowlers, and Starc.

Yet another brilliant fighting display by the Indians. Talk about never say die

They have shown a ton more heart than the Australian team.

We are an ordinary side. Can’t believe we are ranked 2 in the world.....shows you how BOG ordinary the rest of the world is.

Think our curators have produced the most average group of pitches I can think of in memory.

Green is quite a good gully fielder

The Brisbane forecast for the next 2 days is 2-10mms & 4-15mms of "showers".

I think the Aussies will try to get to about 220 as quickly as possible and then declare, setting the Indians around 250... No matter what time of day that is tomorrow.

I think they'll genuinely risk losing the test for any chance of a win. Plus, they did have India at 6-186 before not being able to get the job done this arvo.

The MCG pitch was the best of the Summer. That's the first time we've been able to say that in a long time.
