Only people who think they won the ICC World Cup are the Poms mate.

They didnt lose it either tho Hojuman

I don't have a problem with the poms , just the morons (probably poms  )who thought it would be a good idea to have a rule that decided the pinnacle of white ball cricket, rather than another super over which would have taken another 10 mins, and would have been a great spectacle and more importantly cricket skill on the day would have decided the event

Preparations for the T20 World Cup are going as expected, as we look like getting beaten by the West Indies for the second day in a row.

Meanwhile, this is a pretty handy catch

Windies are pretty good at T-20. Probably the one world tournament where its a lottery as to who wins it so dont put much store on the preparations

How long until we're playing proper cricket?

Cool, you got any advice for the yips?

Have a few issues with my ball release about 10 years ago and now I either molly-grubber it or it floats out of my hand. I am at the stage of over thinking every part of my action including the gather, front arm and even where I put my front foot.

Let me guess, straying down leg side?

Just get out there and bowl and stop thinking IMO. I used to get them bad when I had to bowl to lefties for a long period of time, and before I fixed my action up.

I mean there's tonnes of theory out there - theoretically a braced front leg, straight run up and straight follow through equals consistency, but when you're overthinking it sometimes you just need to get out there and bowl.

I found making my bowling wrist limp in my run up and action just helped to loosen my whole body up when I was over thinking things.

Not quite. Either my arm goes side on (I’m usually a front on bowler), or I seem to collapse incorrectly, or my finger pushes it out to the offside.

It could be one thing or multiple and i over correct.

Then I try to correct and stay more upright and it usually floats out or I slow up trying just to bowl one good ball. I have tried all approaches and just bowling, but my mind always pops in.

Hmm, front on bowlers rarely collapse so it sounds like you may have your feet crossing over in your pre-delivery stride. Probably some over compensation resulting in angling off side.

Maybe try setting up some tram tracks with spray paint and making sure your feet hit those, see if that helps.

Gunning it into a net on the foot can help clear any cobwebs as well.

Thanks. It’s gotten to the point I’m thinking about my right hip coming through and how upright I am. I never had to used to think about it.

Just on the limp wrist, you mean don't worry about straightening it?

I will definitely have a crack with the feet position, braced leg and just bowling, but I was under the impression you need a decent strong wrist to get consistency.

If your problem is tension through the torso and arms, that could be coming from the wrist.

Any regular bowlers on this board?
Yup

I concur with the loose wrist. Loose everything really. Get nice and relaxed and don't over exert.

I struggled for ages with my run up and accuracy, particularly straying down leg. Once I sorted my run up properly everything else just clicked. Removed the stutter step by repeating the exact same run up over and over, got nice and comfortable doing this without a pitch or ball to figure out what worked for me then measured it up and use that from then on. I found when I don't need to think about the run up or delivery stride I can just focus on where I'd like to put the ball.

So K4e, get loose and relaxed, sort your run up so it is the same every single time, then introduce the ball and pitch.

Thanks.

Pre-yips, I never worried about the wrist too much and I used to bowl a ball that wobbled in the air, had decent air-time, but would then suddenly drop a lot earlier than people expect and skid through. I had a wide slower ball grip and I was also, unintentionally at the time, running my middle finger down the ball on release so it was like a bit of back spin.

Aussies collapsed pathetically. Fighting back well with the ball but Henriques just dropped a sitter and might have just dropped the game.
