Waugh was the worst bloke in Aussie cricket , shit bloke , they covered it up well . His twin the opposite , happy to be with anyone.

I don’t know either at all or know anyone who does, just mean as far as cricket goes warnes a hypocrite

Waugh protected his average though

That is a story perpetuated by Warne.

That is a story perpetuated by any fair minded observer. Running out partners, farming the strike to the tail and refusing to go for quick runs while directing others to do so we're commonly observed behaviours.

Michael Bevan did the same.
"Directing others to do so..." is part of the Warne narrative. It is BS.

Thought you had some facts, just a tease then, so you dislike Warnie basically because he is a a Victorian I guess

The least of Warne's problems is being Victorian.

N37. Check the data on Waugh's involvement in run outs He rarely, especially in the second half of his career, was the one trudging to the pavilion. The ABC commentary box first drew my attention to this tell tale behaviour.

He was widely criticized for farming the ball to the tail, often off the first ball of an over , well ahead of Warne criticism. He also as captain had the opportunity to declare and keep the red ink

In my view he regularly sacrificed Gilchrist, a far better batsman, in chasing quick runs. For me Gilchrist was the ultimate team man, Waugh the classic Red ink chaser.

Other criticisms included hiding himself down the order

In short, while he may have made the xi of selfish players and up there with Boycott in my view, he was still a good player. A long way short of being a great player. His young twin was an average player. Both were gifted games at various points of their career.

He was also widely lauded for batting very well with the tail.
Engineering a run out so that you're not the one getting run out is bloody hard.
Run outs are shit luck.
It just goes to show the lengths the bs narrative against Waugh will go to to try to make him look bad.

When Waugh became captain he adopted a more collegiate approach to captaincy, everybody was allowed to have an input into tactics. All of the people that played under him say the same thing.
That doesn't sound like the type of thing a selfish person would do, which suggests that the chatter that he wasn't about the team but about himself is garbage.
Since his retirement where have you ever seen him big note himself?
He doesn't respond to Warne's baiting because he doesn't have time for people like Warne. He knows the type of person Shane Warne is. Everybody that was involved with that team knows the type of person Shane Warne is.
NONE of them want anything to do with him.

When Warne got dropped he abused the shit out of Colin Miller, for no reason, other than Miller was the one that took his place.
And Steve Waugh is the selfish one....give me a break.
Warne is a grub.

That is more BS.

Mark Waugh averaged over 50 in 1st Class cricket and for a long time didn't get picked even though he was dominating Shield cricket.

Not relying at all on SKW's account at all. Formed my own watching Waugh play. Waugh was forced to defend farming the strike away to the tail many times at ptessers. He was asked once about his run out survival rate at a presser, was embarassed and deflected. Of modern era players only Fleas (Katich Bedders) rivals Waugh.

There was a perception about Waugh that was far from the truth...the stories grew legs because Warne supposedly confirmed. Warne was just being Warne. A petty, jealous grub of a person.

Just because you don't like SKW, does not mean he is not spot on re Waugh. He is simply repeating what many commentators remarked on and which many cricket observer's like me noticed. At one level Warne has simply restated the obvious.

It might be the perception, but it ain't true B52.
Warne is just playing on those perceptions because he is an A-grade w***er.

You seem remarkably sure the problem is that of perception. What would it take to convince you otherwise? Would you believe Waugh if he confessed? I note there has not been a string of contemporaries rushing to Waugh's defence. I have discussed Redinkus Maximus with two ex Test players. Both agreed the run outs and farming the strike to the tail irked them. Still, both were Quicks and like ruckmen are not the sharpest tools in the kit, do you can take their views with a grain of salt.

Two ex players that were the victim or just two ex players?
