They have been off and on the ground a few times tonight , so far so good at 2-92. It's been a struggle with the ball still moving a bit , so kudos to Warner and Labuschagne for toughing it out. Warner is starting to look like the Warner of old , not as fluent but the signs are good.

179 with Labuschagne 74 and Warner 61. Paine the only other bat in double figures with 11. Maybe we should concuss one of the batsmen so Smith can come back in for the 2nd dig?

And get their best bowler to tear a calf muscle in his fourth over in the next dig. Seems to be the only way Australia can hit a competitive total.

Geez, Broad gives me the shits. He’s spent the past two years looking cooked and was in and out of the side more recently but then Australia turn up and he starts bowling like Dennis Lillee.

At least Warner made it past 10, but he was lucky to get there.

Labuschagne having a great season even in county cricket averaging 65. In the team for the rest of the series.

Fair point, Warner played and missed pretty much 6 balls an over for a while there, but then again, every time I've watched Head bat he's been lucky to get more than zero. Something to be said for grafting away despite looking out of your depth. Hopefully that'll be the turning point for Warner, but our batsmen just seem completely spooked by the Pom's attack. Without Smith there, we look horribly brittle and short of class.

Our entire batting line up looks like they have no confidence apart from Smith and now Labuschagne. Didn’t see Warner’s innings after his first 30 balls or so, was surprised he made past 10 let alone 50 the way the ball kept beating him. Hoping he got some confidence out that innings.

Like the deck. Bit of movement and good carry. Nothing excessive, but our batsmen are all scraping the barrel for confidence. Broad giving Warner a good working over... although Broad is far too old to be carrying on like the pork chop he is.

I guess if I'd been garbage for years and suddenly looked elite again then I'd probably carry on like a bit of a goog as well.

I liked that defensively Warner just played straight down the line (from what I saw). He didn't go chasing the ball when it moved off the pitch. His attack left a lot to be desired but baby steps I guess.

Just caught up on the wickets from last night. A couple of notes - The ball that got Head out was an absolute cracker. Feel a bit sorry for Wade. After a summer of balls crashing into stumps and the bails staying glued on, that his bail fell off after the ball pretty softly bounced into the base of the stump is a bit unlucky.

well it wasn't the Warner we wanted, but it was the Warner we needed I guess. he toughed it out for a while, started moving his feet again. hopefully that's the one that turns it around for him.
Labuschagne looks really solid, could have a long term player there.
the rest....:poo:

FMD , i fell asleep and so did the rest of the team . I guess the Tail has had enough of bailing the top 6 out and went on strike . There is every chance the English will get to bat in bright sunny conditions tonight so we can only hope their batsmen stuff it up as well . It should be said that those conditions yesterday were tailor made for the pommy Seamers who took advantage of them .

Great batting conditions
With today's standards, that can be true and unimpressive at the same time.
Yeah. I understand. Australia have some good bowlers but conditions will be good to bat.

I just get the shits when Cricket Australia constantly talk up having the best attack in the world. Cummins is arguably the best fast bowler in the world and Lyon is arguably the best spinner. Behind that, I think it’s pretty overrated. Starc can clean up a tail and Hazlewood can be good with the new ball but I don’t think they’re that good. Patto could prove me wrong but I get the feeling he’s going to be a bit like the Ox coming back after his third knee reco, solid but not the same player or the player he could’ve been. I like Jhye Richardson but he’s just starting out and is injured. Beyond that it’s Siddle and Bird who are long in the tooth and no spinners or all rounders of quality before we get into complete unknowns. I’m still waiting for ‘the best attack in the world’ to raze a team the same way England did to Australia today but it just seems as though they toil well and generally keep other teams to somewhat manageable totals. Although, I guess they have the disadvantage of not being able to bowl at the largely inept Australian batting lineup.

I’ve probably ranted for too long and bowlers are far from the biggest problem but I just wish they would STFU and perform instead of flexing.

I watched the whole innings.

Warner - one of the more scratchy 61 you will see but I'll take it.

Harris - out quickly

Khawaja - never digs in when we need him

Labuschagne - a REAL find. Batted superbly again. Only a few more on paper than Warner but was in a different stratosphere for comfort and fluency.

Head - good nut, rare duck.

Wade - starting to think this experiment was a huge failure. Similar to Khawaja no good under pressure.

Paine - **** me. Bring back Brad Haddin.

Patto, Cummins, Hazlewood, Lyon - can't be expected to make runs.

Geez England (the country) and England (the cricket team) shit me. Miserable dark weather. Punchable heads galore. Obnoxious celebrating.

I rate Archer but he didn't bowl that we'll yesterday. He was gifted 2-3 wickets.

Haddin was a terrible tourist and not much use when the chips were down. Rare to doink your way out of trouble in a Test match.

Unfortunately we just have to accept that our batting stocks are poor right now . Having a good bowling group is useless if they continually have **** all runs to bowl to. We shall see how England go about their first innings , and our batting group will get a second dig to make up for the first go , but there are still far too many questions around this team and not many answers .

Sort of like you can have an AFL team capable key defenders but it’s useless if the team can’t defend up the field. Imagine that! 🤔

I hear ya. I think our bowling unit is at least as good as any other going around at the moment but it's hardly a dominant monster like 20 years ago.
I think Patto has the skillz but liken him to late Garry Lyon who adapted to a pretty elite full forward before his body completely packed up.

It's pretty obvious we need to take early wickets tonight but if we can knock them over for around 220ish then we're well in the game.
As bad as we've been, the poms batting is equally as brittle.

Oh look, Roy is out. Joe Root may as well open the batting. Roy could save everyone time and stay in bed - reckon we'd be generous if we let the Poms start every innings 1/20.

I'm all for keeping him in the team. They should back him in...

I'm a bit puzzled by the graphic they just put up. This is the 3rd Test - how has he been out 6 times this series?

Also, I'm glad Hazlewood is in. IMO our best bowler. Key difference between what him and Cummins is doing is that Hazlewood is bowling two meters fuller.
