Makes sense when you think about it. At the moment, players and umpires can get decisions wrong. All they've done with DRS and similar systems is provided another layer and more opportunity to get things wrong.

I'd have some sympathy for us if that LBW shout was even a 1% chance of being given. Wasn't even a gamble though, it was just a sign of complete desperation. I do agree with Stokes though; I'm surprised ball tracking showed the culprit from Lyon hitting the stumps. Looked to be going down leg to me.

I hate Stuart Broad. He’s also been a bit of a whipping boy for the Poms because he bowls too short. This Ashes he’s been fantastic because he’s pitched the ****ing thing up. Pattinson I kind of get because he’s tended to be a hot head and is just dipping his toe back in the water at international level but I’m really disappointed with Cummins because he’s generally been a smart cricketer.

We may as well bring Brett Lee out of retirement if we want a blowfish bouncer war. Just because Archer can badge anyone with the odd surprise bouncer doesn’t mean our bowlers shouldn’t be trying to hit the stumps.

Yep. I flicked away briefly and was confused as **** as to why they were going through the motions for that one. I'm glad we had something actually worth reviewing before we lost the game just to really rub that horrendous decision into the psyche of all involved.

Agree re: Taylor - feels like he's literally been platituded into insensibility and can no longer say anything remotely relevant. Press button A for back-slapping camaraderie, press button B for jovial optimism, press button C for fond reminiscing, etc etc etc. Says nothing interesting despite the fact he should be one of the best placed people to comment on what's going right and wrong at the moment. He really is woeful.

Healy in the same camp except when he's commenting on a keeper.

I feel like Taylor used to share good insight but has been sucked into the channel 9 buddy, buddy attempted comedy troupe. Healy has always been a useless barracker except, as you say, when he talks about keeping (same with Slater and batting).

Looks like Anderson will be back in for the Poms next test. Woakes hasn’t been great but I think they might drop Leach. There’s also talk of Roy and Denly switching spots in the order but neither should really be in the team, ditto Buttler and Bairstow.

Obviously Smith will come in for Australia and the smart money would be on Khawaja to get the bullet. It’s kind of like debating whether JKH or Stretch deserve the last bench spot but I’d drop Harris instead. I think there’s also a chance they’ll roll the dice with Starc. He’s my least preferred option but it’s not like Pattinson and Siddle have made the most of their opportunities and I doubt they have the balls to debut Neser.

Roy and Denly swapping makes sense (or at least Denly opening) - Denly is one of the few Poms showing a proclivity to actually leave the odd delivery. He's not a great bat but given how the Poms top order have been travelling, he may as well open anyway. If Roy gets picked for the 4th Test it'll be a travesty. Imagine being a Test hopeful and seeing Roy hack away and consistently fail yet get backed in to the hilt for no good reason.

Take your pick of half a dozen names from that list. My choice would be Ben Mike - what a name. Or perhaps Felix Organ. You'd surely prefer to throw Gary Ballance another lifeline than persist with Roy, even though his footwork makes Khawaja look extravagant.

I'd imagine Harris will get the spear and Khawaja will open. You could punt any of Harris, Khawaja or Wade and they wouldn't have much of a case to argue. Harris has done nothing yet but only played one match, Khawaja has had a few starts and hasn't gone on with it and Wade has had one good dig, one start and a collection of nothings.

Re: the bowling, who knows what they'll do, but Pattinson has bowled a few decent spells and a fair bit of rubbish, so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the arse. Picking Starc is a gamble but it could pay off. Sitting on the sidelines watching others with half the talent he has bowling for Australia will hopefully inspire him to do better, should he get a guernsey. The steady and dull offerings of Siddle might be more what we need, though.

the reason Labuschagne played is for his spin bowling , Starcs first spell was economical and his last was typical cleaning up the tail . I have no idea what any of this means in picking the next test team .

We have them 3-53 in their 2nd go and as it is a 3 day match we may not need to bat again . Good luck figuring out who they will pick for the next test.

I read that. ****ing infuriating to say the least. No accountability and hes brushed it off like a pre season game. It's the biggest choke in Australian sporting history and I'd say Cummins is probably the most responsible

I don't like Anderson but that's a shame for him. Multiple calves could be the end of the old man.
