Yeah, Warner has zero credits in the bank after the South Africa debacle and should be having to justify his position, which he isn't in my book. Which, of course, counts for nothing...
Well the selectors have created this problem now , On form alone Warner should be out , but they have tried Bancroft and dropped him after 2 tests , and now Harris isn't looking any better . Khawaja at #3 being out of form as well makes it worse. . In a way the problems at the top of the order have masked the other problem we have shown this series , neither Head or Wade have set the world alight either . And yet we are 1 win or 2 draws away from retaining the Ashes .

At this point I wouldn't be averse to giving Carey a crack down the order. Labuschagne up to open, Smith to three, Head (urgh) to four, Wade (spew) to five, Carey in at six, duh da duh da duh... if Carey makes a half-decent fist of it, makes it that much easier to hand the gloves straight to him and invite Paine to find alternative employment.

Except this chopping and changing of the batting order is terribly disruptive when we're trying to decide the Ashes. What a terrible spot to be in.

Leach got bowled leg stump in the first innings of that test. Bowling non stop short s**t at him in the 2nd seems legit.
Looks like you’ve decided to punish yourself too.

what, compared to watching Melbourne play this year , this is comic relief.
Why not? It’s the melbourne way.

That was both the best and worst of cricket in one hour I’ve ever seen.

Could Labuschagne be the first cricketer to retire with an average of over 50 with no test centuries
He'll be a gun I reckon. Only 25 which is often the age good batsmen start to emerge in Australia. He'll turn these 50s into 100s on some of the Aussie roads.

Not many make regular tons in England. Smudgey would be the exception there. Speaking of which what a player. I always think we put too much pressure on him and no batsmen can score runs every single time but he pretty much does. His last 15 or so Ashes scores are insane.

It’s frustrating but it’s a better problem to have a batsman who can’t turn 50s into 100s than one who can barely hit it off the square. Consistent top order 50s are like gold in the context of this series and Australia’s batting generally.

Yeah i have been impressed with him so far (Labuschagne) and maybe he has the temperament to bat at 3 , but so far so good. Smith is a freak (in a good way) , without him we would be totally screwed .

Yeah, certainly not during the Ashes, that would be too unsettling (somehow). I think it's a matter of time before it happens though.

Actually, re-reading this, I'd have Bancroft and Khawaja opening, Labuschagne, Smith, Head, Wade and Carey. It's still too many left handers against the poms. They've really no idea how to play Broad in particular. It's just so brittle a lineup no matter which order they're put in.

Overton is bowling short enough to play for Australia.

Super dumb by Wade. No need for that after his patience. Be aggressive but keep it on the ground when the ball is spinning.

That is some hot garbage from Wade. Filthy hack. Has the cushiest job in the side at #6 and he can't make a thing of it in decent conditions.
