Police investigate apparent needle spiking in crowd

If people were collapsing unconscious, it might have impacted big crowd behaviour in unexpected ways. It must have been terrifying to be in the middle of it.

All of the eight people who died were aged under 30.

The youngest victim was 14 years old. Hundreds more people were injured.

Houston Police Chief Troy Finner confirms there were reports of individuals being "pricked" by something, One security officer was given Narcan and there was evidence he'd been given an injection in his neck. Finner described this as a "criminal investigation".

One report involved a security officer "who felt a prick in his neck" as he was trying to restrain or grab someone and then fell unconscious, only to be revived with a dose of the opioid antidote NARCAN, Chief Finner said.

It was not clear whether authorities suspected such an episode played a role in the crowd surge, but Chief Finner said police were "going to get down to the bottom of it."

Horrible. If the reports of needle drug spike assaults is true, people would be tripping and stumbling, accidentally pushing or falling in to each other, taking up more space, people not knowing why and panic starts to set in. it would impact for sure.
