Do you mean the little girl witches? Keep going back and let them shoot you for a mission.
That mission was whack. Eventually figured out you literally have to skirt around their town in a massive arc to get to the next quest marker, if you try to go straight line at it they just shoot you every time :drunk:

Also just did a bounty where the outlaw is part of a mob that attacks you, apparently no way to capture him alive other than killing everyone else but him, run away, wait for him to stop looking for you then sneak up behind him and tackle :drunk:

There's some serious jank in this game but persisting for now.

I just killed him and turned in his corpse. You only get half pay, but better than stuffing around like that.

The worst is some puzzles have codes, but to get the codes, you need to go to a bunch of other places around the map. **** that, I just YT those.

I don't really notice control issues much, but the jumping when trying to loot is bloody annoying!

First attempt I did kill him but the game wouldn't even let me pick up the corpse, just had the 'search' prompt lol :drunk:

And yeah those puzzles can **** right off. Just YouTube'd one (Stone Dragon chamber or something I think it was) where the 3 murals you have to match are randomly scattered all over the place miles away with no indication you'd even need to go there, nahhh sorry not doing that the game is long enough as it is.

The Dragon mural one was satisfying. Once I saw some red paint marks on the mural I knew immediately to look for the location on the map and I worked it out. Playing Hell Is Us over Christmas taught me again the satisfaction of solving puzzles on my own. The internet is handy for those who can't be bothered and so far I've used it a couple times just for some gear to look out for, but right now I've got one puzzle (I think it is, well it's a closed door in a cave that jiggles with physics anyway) that I haven't worked out and I occasionally go back when I've unlocked more stuff. Some have environmental clues and others are just some trial and error until I work out what's going on.

I noticed with the latest patch that ore goes straight into your bag so no more losing a piece of ore over a cliff. The controls have largely been fine though so I don't understand the complaints in the reviews. My only complaints are the lantern and miner's helmet take multiple menus to operate. You can leave the miner's helmet on but it replaces your helmet once you equip it. Unless I'm doing it wrong even if you disable the helmet it stays equipped and you still need to open left dpad wheel, tab to armour then flick over to your regular helmet. I'm probably going to stash the miner's helmet anyway as I'm still yet to find any hidden ore with it lol.

If it's the one in Witchwoods, that's the exit.

That is a good update.

Yep. I'm like 40-45 hours in and still haven't left Hernand!

When I jumped off before Steam said 67 hours and also still in Hernand! Everytime I think I'm nearly done with side quests a bunch of new faction quests will pop. That and I'm invested in my farm, gathering resources and dispatching people on missions. Haven't left Hernand and still can't get enough. I feel like the game is going to nudge me out of there soon as where I'm up to in the main story just implicated a neighbouring area.

Horse taming can get absolute ****ed who thought this was a good idea trying to be like RDR2 but they did it way better

Definitely a check to make sure you've invested in stamina lol. I've only done it once as required for the story but it was pretty rough but also partly because I was doing it at midnight and half the time couldn't even make out which way the horse was facing 😒

Think I'm level 4 with stamina managed to do it but man it was frustrating.

At chapter 5 now

Was this for a Legendary horse? There are 3 of them, so you'll need to do it another 2 times!

I only have 2, so still need to get the last one, but will wait till I get the third guy in my crew.

Is it a good idea to just open up the map as much as possible early?

I am still on chapter 3 with no real idea of what I am doing, mostly side quests and bounty for the time being, also with the combat does anyone have an issue trying to block, that red devil boss was ****ing me up pretty bad and I was getting frustrated trying to block his attacks.

Motor on to chapter 5 to unlock your camp upgrades if you don't want to get bogged down on early game stuff. If I were to have my time again that's probably what I'd do because as much as it's encouraged to explore and make your own path in this game it's just going to send you back to a lot of the same places for side quests anyway.

The parry window can be tight on some enemies. With Reed Devil be aggressive. Heavy attacks, rank 3 force push and parry when you can to build up his stun. Once you stun him you can smash him for heaps of damage with a light combo followed up with a R1+R2 over head. He actually got nerfed recently and used to be even harder.

Also take lots of food to any boss. This is my Kliff by the end of any boss fight

Appreciate it, thanks for the advice helps alot :)

Finally leaving Hernand because I've got bugger all left to do and a side boss is kicking my arse so I decided to follow the main quest east for a bit.

I’m never going to finish this game, it’s enormous.

Put in roughly 12hrs and barely scratched the surface in Hernand. Think I’ll just enjoy it for as much as I can, can see it being a game I float in and out of over the next couple of years.

I feel the same way. Steam says I've got 83 hours and I've only just started exploring outside of Hernand. While the point hasn't arrived yet I feel like I'll start to put it down periodically for other games and keep coming back to and just doing things like looking for new resources and gathering things. That's all I did today pretty much. The more I play the more I'm feeling a comparison to something more like WoW than a typical single player open world game. You're not meant to be able to do everything. Not at once anyway. There are things for you to do if you want to do them but they're not there as a check list like Assassin's Creed, but time is to be spent more to something like WoW where you're going to log on sometimes for no other reason than to farm to upgrade things, or work on progressing a faction quest line or something.

What's interesting is also I recently read that the IGN reviewer has raised the possibility of a re-review with the editor given the patches since launch (so they claim), or maybe it is to do with it now sitting at Very Positive on Steam with 8.8 user score on Metacritic. Not the best metrics but there has been definitely a major disconnect between reviewers and the target audience so I imagine IGN maybe looking to salvage some credibility.
