Your right Merret is catching up to the Bont. Merret watched the GF last year and seeing Bomtempli receive his medal is driving him to take his game to the next level.
Merrett should feel privileged just to kick the same football as Bontempelli when Essendon play the Dogs, such is the gap between the two.

Lol, and Essendon could've played finals and potentially won a Grand Final in 2013 had they not cheated and got themselves kicked out, but ah well we'll never know what could've happened hey!
lol are you still mad at the fact that you picked up a spud in Billings with your first round pick? We picked up Merrett and Fantasia with later picks who are twice the players the Billings will ever be.

Oh well, at least our list isn't as shit as yours. Have fun being that mediocre team you always have been.

That's cute, I love how Essendon win one game and all of their supporters all of a sudden think they're so great :tearsofjoy: Not sure which part I laughed at more, the bit where you said Fantasia is twice the player Billings will ever be (why are Essendon supporters are all so obsessed with him lol) or where you said Essendon's list isn't 'as shit' as ours. That's a massive LOL if ever I've heard one

We'll defer to your superior knowledge on obsession given you always pop up and have a massive bitch about Essendon.

AFL Player Rankings after round one:

Bontempelli (WB) 4th
Merrett (Ess) 29th
Cripps (Car) 49th
Kelly (GWS) 89th

Some other interesting ones from that same draft class:

Crouch (Ade) 122nd
Dunstan (StK) 182nd
Kolodjashnij (GCS) 207th
Taylor (Bri) 211th
Billings (StK) 290th
McDonald (NM) 338th
Boyd (WB) 367nd

There are four players from the draft class ranked in the top 100 and a fifth (Crouch) should join them soon. They are the standouts from the draft class so far. It's also worth reminding people that the AFL player rankings only take account of the past 40 games played by a player during the past two seasons. Players such as Billings and Boyd, who have played 27 and 29 games, respectively, during that period are better than their ranking suggests.
Where is Jayden Hunt, out of curiosity?

Oliver = 2015 draft

Merrett, Cripps and Bont = 2013 draft.

That's why.

There'll be an Oliver, Parish and Hopper thread in years to come
Fair play.
But by years end, Oliver could very well be considered close to, if not on level peggings with a couple of those blokes.
Bont streets ahead of all IMO.

Clayton Oliver is so far off these three at the moment it's not even funny. He has a lot of upside and I like what I see but far out, he's played two or three odd games where he's been in Melbourne's top half a dozen players. These three are their club's best players at the moment and are in their best three or so nearly every single game.

mate, Oliver could be streets ahead of all of them. early days, but he has the tools to dominate the comp.
taken some big steps in his last 2 games.

He is ranked 337th but he has only played 20 games so his ranking isn't accurate. Had he played 40 games then he'd be ranked around 150th based on his per game average.

His per game average doesn't seem much different from the likes of Parish or Mills so it seems like he is tracking very well given he only debuted last season.

the reason why he's not here is because there's no 'could become great' about merrett bont and cripps. bont is the best player in a flag winning side, cripps' clearance numbers from last year are the best anyone's put up this millennium, and merrett was on track for 50 touches at one point vs the hawks and every one of them effective.

i rate oliver highly but this thread isn't about potential, these 3 are established stars.

He's rated internally as highly as Petracca/Brayshaw/Oliver so he will be very interesting given he's in the same class as those three, that being said he's more of a flanker than a true mid.

It's going to be very interesting to watch Oliver's clearance numbers, because I think he could put up a season like Cripps this year.

Agree. Would be better if most around here went fourth and multiplied
ahh, the classic spelling mistake in a post about other people's stupidity.

2 points
OP has mentioned 3 to tie it to the same debates we have on Hird - Voss -Bucks, etc.
Oliver/Petracca, etc. not from 2013 draft. we are comparing the draft classes here.

The collective knowledge and brainpower of most in here are unable to assess and comprehend a forth player

That gap is closing pretty fast.

Was bloody stiff to miss the AA squad last year and has started the season with a bang. will only get better with the quality personnel around him now.
