Trent Croad - one vote
Luke McPharlin - no votes

Does that mean that Hawthorn are on top of that trade after one season already, Sabre? Daniel Elstone to come.

No, it means you are a bored little bitch on school holidays.

Now, up your game, trolling like that is for light weights - picking on Sabre? that's so Macca. ;)

Are we talking Brownlow votes?

McPharlin got 3 votes against Kangaroos.

Croad got 2 votes against Melbourne.

So Freo won :)

I think the future will show the Hawks did well out of that deal, although there is no real evidence of it at the moment.
The Hawks would have loved someone like Croad to boot a few goals this season, but there is also no doubting the class of Luke Hodge who should develop into a future club champion, and maybe Hawks captain.
Not sure about Luke McPharlin, he's raw and I am not able to assess his future in the game. He's a good athlete but I am not all that keen on his footy skills. I don't think the Hawks would miss him that much.
Sam Mitchell had some very good games for the Hawks late in the season and 2003 will be one for him to show what he is capable of.
I think the Hawks would be very pleased with Hodge and Mitchell, as would Freo with Croad and McPharlin.
Win/win situation ... no argumet. What's done is done and I look forward, not backward.

You aren't keen on McPharlins footy skills? He is already one of the better marking players in our team... he takes some good grabs. And his kicking is pretty solid too.

And you don't think the Hawks will miss him? Why don't you ask Hawk fans that question.

Sorry, I thought I was entitled to MY opinion, not yours.

And was ignored by freo when he first went into the draft. Have a look at your recruiting

On the main question, I'd say win-win, but you lose because you took farmer

Perhaps it is your team that needs to have a look - how many players have you lost in the last few years, to return to their homestate?

Thats retention not recruiting. If not for that current dockers /eagles playersmight be loading grain into silos.

Oh, sorry, they are supposed to stay in the WAFL untilthe eagles or dockers decide to 'honour' them with the chance to play the game

Don't think you could say that he was ignored by Freo... it was more brillaint scouting by the fella the Hawks had in the West. He was the bloke that had seen him playing in the Al**** Cup and convinced Luke to play a game of Colts for the Sharks.

Lose because we took Farmer? Certainley not a stellar season from young Jeffrey but hardly a loss. But wait... theres more!!!...not only did Melbourne give us the Wiz for pick 17 but they also threw in a set of steak knives called Troy Simmonds.

MFC did well with pick 17 and good luck to them. FFC did better.

I see.

Actually I dont, but thought best to be polite.

No, far from it.

However, to bleat repeatedly about the same issue, would leave me asking why you would continue to go down that path, if the risks are there(of interstate players leaving), dont get all shirty when it doesnt pay off.

Well Hitman lets look at it this way shall we.

Croad had his best season thus far kicking 36 goals (I think), which coming into the season is what I said I wanted.I full understand that Croad will never be a loylld in fact none of our full forwards will be one.I merely expect 30 goal season each from our big 4 and we have what would be one of hte strongest and most versitile forward line the league (big 4 being Longmuir,Croad,Waterhouse and the Medhurst/Farmer combination).

McPharlin on the other hand far exceeed my expectations of him and looks to be even a better player than I and you thought.Came back midway through the season after not playing for a year to have a better 2002 than you Hay and Rawlings who played the entire season.

Who got the better of the deal thus far??
Is there any comparison
Croad kicked 36 goals and was a constnat target, with the added bonus of causing many Hawks supporters to realise what his value was when he isnt there.
McPharlin played above and beyond down back with the bonus of kicking a few bags when put forward.

Like I have said all along give me 2 key position players able to hold down the hardest positions in the game over a midfielder any day.

O and McPharlin got 3 votes in a losing side

No, we knew how good he was going to be.

That's why Chris Connolly is desperate for midfielders aye?

I couldn't give a fat rats about the deal, it's over. Luke Hodge is a better footballer than Croad will ever be. Mitchell will be a good player, the jury is out on Elstone. McPharlin will hurt us, but that was always going to happen.

Sounds like you have given up on getting Hay, makes a change from Hay this, Hay that

I was talking Hay when we were in dier need of a Half Back.
McPharlin is that half back.

Yes Hodge will probally be a better player than Croad but once again its a package deal and you are kidding yourself if you overlook McPharlin.

Conolly is desperate for midfielders cause we have a shortage.

They traded it to Geelong for Clint Bizzell.
Geelong got pick 17 James Kelly and pick 41 Henry Playfair.
