For the last few years EfC /Hird inc and their media sycophants and PR teams have waged war against the competition, the rule makers and those who believe PEDs should be kept out of sport. Little, the club and supporters have shown bugger all contrition and given the finger numerous times. Responsibility and accountability has never been apportioned fairly so this is going to linger and fester like a septic open wound in the AFL body.

I maintain the impact on crowd behaviour of all this has been precisely zero. I go every week, I'm in standing room 95% of the time where it's a more male / less family crowd, I'm a fairly vocal barracker sometimes, and I've had precisely zero people "get into me" about anything to do with drugs.

People yell shit out, but they always did before this and they always will. Sometimes the subject is drugs, but it's nothing cutting and inspires no different response to anything else. It's all been heard 100 times before.

I've been engaged by a small number of opposition supporters over the years, maybe half a dozen, but all its ever been is a civil chat. Some were bagging the club, others thought it was all a giant wank and sympathised.

I think people forget how civil AFL crowds are (except in Perth lol). They're generally full of children and families and trouble is quite rare apart from the odd bloke who drinks more than he can handle and is there to get stumbling drunk, not watch the footy (hi Collingwood).

All the shit is spoken online which is the same with every topic in every area in the world. The internet is made for it. Who gives a shit?

We are not at the point where this required because our supporters have jumped on board to support the club. We are not North Melbourne or Melbourne where we are traditionally poorly attended and every now and then we have to pass around the hat or rattle the tins. But the AFL has said it will provide you with whatever is needed as apparently the comp "needs a strong Essendon". It really doesn't.

In fact, you're already getting significant assistance in kind from the AFL in them working to try and resolve the player lawsuits. But I expect those lawsuits - or more accurately the settlement - will come in at a figure Essendon can't meet, so the AFL will be bailing you out with a sum far higher than any other club has ever received.

Essendon supporters would do well to appreciate the gravity of the situation they are in and realise that they are no loner the big rich bullet proof club that can look down on others. You're in the shit worse than anyone.

Very good turn out of Bombers fans at the game yesterday. Made a lot more noise than the Suns fans and both sets of fans were very well behaved. Was actually surprised at the number of our fans that made the trip up there despite knowing we would cop a beating

What I do know is this., Essendons current strong financial position will not be threatened throughout the compensation process due to its position with insurance as well as external funding, not of the AFL variety.
