Well what do you know? The Colliflog is about. Tell you what you do Margaret. Go away and find out how often you have played at home on a non holiday while outside the top 8 before a crowd bigger than 83,500.

If you can't then take your flag pumped Westpac bandwagon off our board like a good girl.

Also that is a bit hard considering that the pies mostly play in finals while the tigers dont!

But in all seriousness I was so happy that the tigers won (cos I hate Essendon) but it will prove one thing this year and that is we will finally get to see how big Richmond are! Which is good for footy.

Also One other thing I would like to add that even tho Im 29 I have been a member for 15 years and have only ever missed 6 games in Melbourne in 15 years due to work so I am not a bangwagoner!

Well maybe you should stop posting on about how Richmond are the biggest club in Australia when in fact Richmond are behind Collingwood, Essendon and Carlton! But I do know since the dreamtime game that I have moved Richmond back up to 4th biggest club in victoria in front of Hawthorn!

lol surely you jest :D

No other side - none - would get the crowds or membership we do going through 3 friggin decades of crap like we have. We are only just turning the corner and bam a lazy 83k turn up. Thats what you guys get in a heavily promoted anzac public holiday clash. We dwarf the blues and bombers and will give your 'army' a shake if we continue the upwards trend - you havent seen anything yet.

Oh btw the tigers cracked 1 million supporters in a season way back in 1980 - safe to say with consistent success ie playing regular finals we can give your record a shake pretty easily

Ess v Coll = Anzac day, plenty of neutrals there and the biggest home and away fixture all year.

Rich v Coll = a game we knew we were going to lose and lose well.

Also, as said previously we have made finals twice in 30 years. When that changes, you will see a massive increase in numbers which will see us easily pass the Bombers in average crowd size. We are very close to the biggest club in Australia, Essendon are not.

Oh and btw we were 14th last season too and many predicted to be BOTTOM 4 this year (particularly the Tiger fans on this site).

Say what you like about 30 years in the wilderness that's your own club's problem. We don't put up with crap like that. We sacked our coach (an ex Richmond captain) when we was running our club into the ground. Coincidently you've got yourself an ex Essendon premiership player to finally give your club some HOPE. Guess we owe you that as you did give us Sheeds for all those years of success. :D

You haven't asked if she has any of her original teeth left though. That should always be the first question you ask a Collingwood fan.

I don't say Richmond are the biggest club in Australia. What I have done is point out that a finalling Richmond has been the biggest home draw in the game more often than not and that this is true of the Punt Rd. years as well as the MCG years. Fact not opinion.

What I'm saying is that its easy to be a blowhard while regularly top 4. Look at Hawthorn. Listening to some of them you would believe they were the lovechild of the NY Yankees and Real Madrid but even you accept that a few richmond wins and its clear where they stand vis a vis us.

PS those of you claiming we or Collingwwood dwarf Essendon should stop. Essendon in all likelihood have the biggest armchair fanbase in Victoria and are a massive club. We all know that much of the support is the Justin Bieber fanclub type but apart from that they have a massive core matchgoing fanbase.

What we will see with the Big 4 all going well is that there is no really big gap between them. There never has been as historical analysis of attendance while they are all finalling reveals.

It is also true T Rance that about 60,000 would be par for the course for a routine non holiday Big 4 clash in which one or other were stuck in the bottom 4 and were at $100 for the flag with the bookies. A brief look at attendance stats will reveal this is true of all the Big 4.

Most commentary on attendance stats tends to be superficial, one eyed and ignorant of histirical reality. If that Rich V Coll was being played next week with 8th playing 2nd and the home side coming off a win V Essendon the attendance would be about 80,000.....par nowadays for Big 4 clashes when both sides are top 8.

Everything is reliant on ladder position and expectation.

rnd 1 - we are coming off a tough development year, so the jugernaught hasnt started, you expect a team that equal fav for the spoon to get 80k in an away game - you idiot

against the pies - see above you idiot

Against the bombers the juggernaut is starting and 83k turn up

Round 15 home game against the blues - if we are still in the mix will be 90k

and why are you comparing Anzac day to other home and away games? Anzac day is promoted heavily you peanut.

Collingwood are clearly the biggest club in Australia and Victoria! Essendon even When they were a powerful onfield club from 1993 to 2001 did not draw the crowds Collingwood are getting now!

Essendon are clearly the second biggest club in victoria followed by Carlton then Richmond, then Hawthorn and Geelong!

I notice you don't deny that a top 4 Richmond has usually been a bigger home draw than a top 4 Collingwood both at Punt rd and the G. You don't deny it because it is simply stating a fact.

Of course Essendon didn't draw the crowds you got recently. Attendances across the board have risen substantially but their aggregate home attendance as a percentage of total AFL back in 1999 as minor premiers was 10.9% compared to Collingwood's 10.7% in 2010. Essendon's figures at the turn of the century were at least as impressive as yours in recent years. Fact.

I don't mind if you automatically assume Carlton are able to outdraw us...a year of Richmond in the top 8 will teach you differently. Richmond have more members and have a higher MCG/Dome average attendance against both Port and Freo. Once again assumption bumps up against statistical reality.

Gopies on the strength of one game you have decided that what you previously argued was decades of development allegedly putting hawthorn ahead of us has been binned !!! Come on. If that is not an admission you are making assumptions based on flimsy evidence what is?

lol If you honestly Think Richmond have more followers then Collingwood and even Essendon you have no Idea at all! look at the 2 years when Richmond made the Finals in 1995 and 2001 collingwood were out of the top 8 and yeas drew more people through the home and away season then your tigers!

Everyone know that Collinngwood have the biggest Follwoing in Australia, so just Deal with it!;)

This is the Richmond board. If you want to talk about Collingwood , I suggest you do it on the Collingwood board.

2 points Gopies.

1. Let's take 2001. You played a finalling Carlton twice. we played them once. You played Geelong in Melbourne. We went to Cat park. You played away to both Essendon and Melbourne on public Holidays. We played them on non public holidays. Taken together those points probably pump you lead over us by about 80 to 90 K. You did go to manuka to paly North. Overall your draw advantage probably pumped you by about 75,000. Comparing fixtures like for like you would still be ahead.....very marginally in a one off year for Richmond.

2 I know you really want to believe that Collingwood is the biggest. Strange isn't it then that Essendon's 1999 Minor Prems drew a higher percentage of AFL attendance to their home games than your Minor Prems did last year? Strange indeed.

Equally strange that Ess V Rich on average outdraws Coll V Rich since 1995. You'd have thought the biggest club could outdraw them but apparently not.

However you tell us "everyone knows" Collingwood are bigger so those facts don't matter.

It is a myth that "everyone knows" Collingwood are this huge beast towering over the AFL though believe what you want to despite evidence to the contrary.
