Is it just me or did you think 42,500 was a bit below where the crowd should have been?

Was expecting easily 45,000+ i was thinking 48500

I was expecting a massive crowd so yeah, 42k was a bit of a letdown.

Think the blame is on the North portion. Wasn't a huge amount there.

Seriously?

Best win in years and you're concerned about the crowd not meeting expectation at an away game? Christ.

yeah so was i, when i was walking to the game some kangaroos supporter walked past me (away from the ground) and said 'do u have tickets' and i said yes and then he kept walking away and said good, cause i dont and its sold out. I was expecting a few more the 42k but thats alright because about 35 thousands essendon supporters got to see the mighty roos beat the living shit out of them

I was there and surrounded by all essendon supporters! 40k was a good effort considering its a Sunday evening game. Would of easily sold out if it was friday/sat night.

Ended up just buying tickets at the gate and apparently there was only standing room left so we were made to stand. So where were the other 13,000 people who had 'reserved' seats? There were plenty of free seats around the ground, did they just not rock up? Anyway the ticketing situation at etihad is pathetic.

Without going into great detail, I will never forget about 4 or 5 years ago when I turned up to an Essendon vs Brisbane match a good hour before the game. Couldn't get in... Not even standing room. Got home & saw the crowd was about 45,000. Totally disgusted.

It's something to do with Essendon's deal at the stadium & how they're enormous number of members are guaranteed entry... Even if they're not going to the game. It makes me not risk going to a match like todays. And yet, has it been announced that next weeks game (an away match against a team with a larger membership base) is fully ticketed? Not that I have heard. It is seriously absurd... & just another reason to dislike the bombers.

They have to reserve the seats incase members turn up... thats ridiculous. so many empty seats yet they were only selling standing seats!

The Bombers home games at Etihad are shit. Their reserved seating allocation means all the bandwagoners dont rock up. I reckon us Northerners did a great job of getting to the game.

I think the earlier sunday game does okay, the twilight game not so hot.

It's no Hansel, that's for sure.

It's about quality, not quantity, and the sheer number of BF folk I said "YESSSSSSSSSSS YOU F****** BEAUTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY" to on the way out of the ground told me it was of the highest quality!

Perfectly put.

We may have been a clear minority, but man, we made noise. I was on the wing in the first and third quarters so couldn't see clearly if our shots for goal went though, and kept thinking we'd missed because the volume of noise made me think it must be them cheering. Then the second and last quarters I stood behind our cheer squad and couldn't hear myself think. Awesome.

Sundays certainly struggle, but there was nothing better being surrounded by bombers fans all day, and jumping in excitement at every goal, then a mate unleased the best spray of all time on jetta for dropping a mark in what could have been a cruical play, all round perfect win!

Yes it does concern me when North supporters cant get in and corporates/essendon members dont turn up. There were 7,500 spare seats in that place and North fans couldnt get in to see an amazing win.

Douche

Level three behind the North cheer squad was all North supporters. I expected 45+ but I think if it was any other timeslot they would have gotten it.

Was up the top of level three and there was a bit of noise up there.

Also on the way across the concourse to the train station and fans broke in a rendition of hearts to hearts.
What a feeling to be in full voice after the game.

All the bumber muppets couldn't say a thing.

Haha i was apart of this and had bombers all around me and they just looked and couldnt say a word!

That rendition of Hearts to Hearts walking back across the bridge after the game was the best I can remember for years. Spotted a grouchy mum dragging her 10 year old daughter through the crowd who said "arrgh their song is so ******ed!" Nothing more pleasing than bearing witness to sour grapes.
