Is it just me or has the crowd atmosphere this year been far less then previous ( except the anzac game) this might have to do with not alot of close games recently , i.e knew we would win/lose but still
I know that the cheersquad cheer after a goal and maybe do a slight freo chant in the last quater, but i have noticed long periods of nothingness

Massive game this week, and i just feel that the crowd needs to go to the fridge and grab some LIFT

Let there be no stretches of nothing, all it needs is everyone who reads this to start something and it will begin ;)

i went to the eagles match againest geel and was actually suprised and impressed by the level of noise they were making,
we must beat that

LIFT :)

Night games always seem to be more noisy an have much better atmosphere imo.
Always prefer going to the night games.
Unfortunately get a few more idiot trouble makers at night games.

I look back to our home final against the Hawks last year. Fabulous crowd.

I dont know if its linked, but why would our crowd be quieter and smaller coming a great season like last year?

Could have something to do with the guts of the club being ripped out and people losing the passion after we lost our "unique" jumper and logo.

Can anyone from the club explain this? They know they made a mistake. Good news to hear lots of chinese made merchandise is being sold with the V's on it.

Interesting to see our crowds next year, after what would hopefully be a successful finals series.

Hope the fans passion and bums on seats return.

This wk end will probably be a pretty good crowd though.

I hope we have a sweet banner like this one. Will really get the crowd going.

Maybe if we keep edging closer towards being exactly like the Eagles, we'll win premierships!

A smattering of yellow and a decrease in the hue for the purple would be OK, no? We'd look like the Lakers! A slightly bluer version.

I dont buy the crap that a supporter will show less support because of a jumper design, i couldnt care less if the boys were wearing pink tutu's i would still be cheering and supporting.

As a crowd though we have probably mirrored the performance of the boys, inconsistent. It is always hard to get up for games like Brisbane and the Gold Coast when your expected to win and the boys are just doing enough to get the 4 points. I thought the crowd was magnificent against the doggies and with home games coming up against top 4 teams we all need to bring our A game along to patersons. The atmosphere at the Hawthorn final last year was as magic as i have experienced at patersons and it wasnt a night game either.

All in all we need to be the X factor this weekend, these sparrows have been so used to playing in front of their crowd imagine the shock when they walk onto patersons with 40,000 people baying for their blood and looking up to see the purple haze in all its glory.

There are a few things that i would like to see,

Plenty of noise for the whole game not just when things are going well. Dont be like the eagles and only clap when certain players touch the ball, make those cheers for lower and mcphee as loud as the ones for ballaz and fyfey.

No booing when we start playing "tempo" footy, as much as it looks ugly it is now a vital strategy in the modern game and we shouldnt put our own players under pressure when they are trying to execute this. I cant stand it when people in the crowd start screaming "kick it" when the opposition has numbers behind the ball.

Save the Freeooo chant till we stitched the game up or need a lift late in the game. I would love to see more of the dockers clap clap chant.

Personally I cant wait till Sunday, warming up with a few lunchtime ales and cheering myself hoarse so come Monday i will have to repeat myself when I speak.

we have a winner :thumbsu:

Personally i reckon i have been louder this year than previously.. probably because no one around me is doing anything, i feel the need..

Not much the people in here can do though.. im pretty sure we are all loud, its the 30,000 others who needa get the spring back.

And yes that banner on the weekend was hilarious.. Seppo has alot to answer for :D

When I made the banner on the Wednesday I did question the message we were given as I immediatly thought of many posters on here thinking this was an infilitration from the dark side.

To clarify why it said 'flying high' was in referance to the Red Kite Cup which we were playing for on the day. The other side of the banner had 'Dockers flying high to raise the Red Kite cup' with '50 games Rhys Palmer' on the bottom.

I can see why people would think its a link to the Eagles, but they have to get over that and realise it was to 'fly high like a kite' to win the cup... which we did.

I'll take a bit of blame for this one. As of this season I now have a family of 5, mostly young kids, sitting next to me. The mum always says "Oh shivers" and "Oh gosh!" when there's a turnover or whatever. I'm usually very loud and passionate but I've been a little more subdued this season, as others have said it's hard to scream your head off when you're sitting next to a bunch of Weagles-esque grannies who makes the faintest noise and you just know you're one or two f-bombs away from having security called on you.

I've become very self-conscious of my usual vile language (though to be fair obscenities hurled at umpires should ALWAYS be tolerated).

What we need badly is the drums to come back, I miss them ever so much.

Having said that, it's so true that the quality of the opposition and the occasion plays a massive part too, the last home game I went to was against Brisbane and there was this weird lethargy hanging over the stadium, just couldn't get into it. For me injuries play a massive part too, so many bad injuries occurring at our games these days I can't muster the energy after witnessing them.

Totally agree.

Have to make do with some dude bashing a few kettle drums in some sort of rhythm on the way to the ground instead these days

We have no issues at Melbourne games as we're loud from start to finish

The Subi crowd on the other hand has at times been a disappointment. Quieter than anything I've ever come across and it's not bloody good enough

Look at the home games in the run home

WC
Hawthorn
Carlton
Collingwood

If that doesn't fire up the Subi fans, nothing will

****ing LIFT

I'm not trying to be critical - to be honest I don't really care - but the specific use of the phrase 'Flying High' seems pretty lazy. Surely there would be plenty of other options relating to kites, flying etc without using a WC slogan. Even tying the kite/flying aspect back to ships/sailing or something similarly maritime related would've worked IMO.

Like I said, I'm not all that fussed, it just seems pretty f'n weird.

I heard today that WCE fans have been buying the Freo 3 game package that includes the Derby, but are not intending on attending any of the other games.....

This may explain a down turn in attendance for the last home game and possible the Hawks next week.

Not happy if this is true....

Maybe we could pinch one of the all time great moments from footy lore and release a pig on the oval, except put number 40 and DeBoer on it's side and add some huge tusks to intimidate the opposition.

We could just nab a wild pig - things are firkkin huge

One of the blokes I work with is a WCE fan and he said it what some of his mates have done who can't get a membership WCE.

Not the sort of bloke to BS about something like this. will explain a lot if there is an excessive amount of WCE fans at the game on Sunday.

I know the club wants to make money, but this is like selling your soul to the devil....

I don't like LIFT, can I just take it to the MAX?

I will be as loud as possible, but I wish that guy in the cheersquad who whistles in time with the chants would stop, he gives me a splitting headache.
