In the early 80s there was a cult movie called The Warriors about gangs in the Bronx. One of the famous scenes from the movie is when the main antagonist provokes the hero by calling "Warriors, come out to play" while banging empty beer bottles he has placed around each of the fingers on one hand.

Crowden looks like that antagonist.

The actor appeared years later in a movie (again as a bad guy) called.... The Crow.

True story.
The actor is David Patrick Kelly. I googled Commando Sully actor. He has been in some ripper flicks & iconic scenes, including the one you mentioned.
Quite apt he is in the Crow, given your lookalike reference.
His scene with Arnie over the cliff is a good one, & of the Warriors one has been mentioned.

Most chicken nuggets I have seen don't have his footskills.

This is true. Most chicken nuggets just sit there on a plate. But something about his general nuggetiness and his golden brown colouring just screams nugget of the chicken variety. Of course, you'd never catch him just sitting on a plate because that would be weird.

Still looks like a chicken nugget, but.

We better keep him away from Masten then.

How much time is he spending on the ground per game generally atm? Does anyone have the stats on this?

Never less than 75% and usually more. Of the first year players he has spent the most TOG. Even more than Banfield who has at least done a WAFL seniors preseason prior to being drafted.
I'd be unsuprised to discover he had the highest amount for a draftee straight out juniors in the AFL (that isn't playing as a defender that is)

Interesting to note also that Naughton is a defender, and Tim Kelly and Billy Hartung are not "juniors".

Yep.

89% time across 7 games is pretty impressive still, especially since he'd be getting overworked down there in this years WBD outfit. Although Crowden's numbers for someone who is constantly running and looking for physicality is just as good. Compare their draft picks too..

Why no Banfield, surely he has had more ground time than Cerra and Brayshaw.

Not a draftee.

I wonder if anyone with Telstra Tracker can tell us if they have access to distance covered for past games this season, or just the most recent?

Banfield is a rookie draftee - still a first year player so definitely should be included. He has averaged 83.8% TOG so far this year.

The Telstra Tracker only shows the top 5 (sometimes across both teams) for each stat. Mitch is in the top 5 for a heap every round.

For total distance his numbers for each round are: (Rd 2 wasn't top 5), 14.0, 14.7, 15.0, 16.6, 15.0 (in kms) - generally 1st or 2nd on ground (often only behind Langdon for Freo).

His average speed (top 5 every week): 9.7, 9.0, 9.5, 9.7, 9.2, 9.3 (in km/h) - again 1st or 2nd normally (often only behind Tucker).

He features occasionally in sprints and repeat sprints.

He has been top 5 in avg attack speed (offensive workrate) every week but rd 3: 9.3, ?, 10.5, 9.6, 9.6, 10.3.

He has been top 5 in avg defensive speed (defensive workrate) in every win and not top 5 in every loss: 9.0, 9.0, ?, 9.1, ?, ?

Athletically he is doing exceptionally as a first year. Given his vision in congestion (mainly those handballs we saw a few weeks back) and his low trajectory inside 50 kicking and the willingness to run and pressure there is enormous upside once he settles in. Currently he seems a little lost out there at times which is completely understandable at this stage of his career but I can see him winning a lot more ball, making a lot more tackles and impacting on the scoreboard a lot more consistently as he better learns where to go and when - similarly with Brayshaw really. The signs are bloody good with those numbers above.

you're correct on Banfield, was just not in the dataset I had access to. Would have had to pull him out separately from the list, and there's only so much I can get away with during my coffee break...;)

What sort of run numbers does Naughton put up? Or is it not listed?
