Groundswell of anger?

Got this from Robbo article? Or Caro on another anti Roos rant ?

Or just made it up.
From speaking to a lot of our employees who live down there. I visit there for work about once every 6 weeks and football is always a topic of conversation. We also have done some research as we were looking at sponsorship/advertising

“Mr Martine was also questioned about how the government would repay its debt, following revelations in the budget last November the Victorian government had recorded an operating deficit of $6.5bn compared with a forecast surplus of $600m in the last financial year.”

“The state collected $9.7 billion less in revenue than it spent over the second half of last year, meaning the full-year deficit could be as high as $20 billion. Before the pandemic, Treasury expected a small surplus for the year.”

The Government being in debt does not have much impact on day to day life here. They are still building and building and building everywhere, which means lots of people are employed and have money to spend. I don't see the connection between the Vic Government being in debt and football attendances sorry. Happy to look at something else if you have it though.

Saturday night wasn't a sellout.

I think the point was though that RFC members couldn't get access with the GA ticket they have already paid for as part of their membership because the allocation was "exhausted" and could only select an "upgrade" at a significant price only to see half the ground empty. Not a sellout but GA members allocation was exhausted which is clearly BS and just profiteering by the AFL and/or club's. Some transparency around this would be great because seems like an absolute racket at the moment and just a way for the AFL/club's to recoup some of the losses suffered last year at the expense of their loyal supporters.

Top of the Olympic looked pretty empty. Wouldn't surprise if they stopped selling those tickets to try and force people into the expensive seats
Yep , on friday and saturday no top level seats availible on ticketek

Fri nights game looks like 70 level 1 wing and 65 for level 1 goal , pretty disappointing..
On the plus side there are some general reserved seats on the bottom of ponsford at least..

In Adelaide, you still need to walk around the ground with a face mask. Only at the AO, mind you... shopping centres, bars, the SANFL, you can be packed in with complete and utter strangers, and it’s all ok (Im told it’s sumfink to do wiv da science). Then obviously there’s the QR code BS and the crowd cap which is apparently serving some public health purpose in the context of zero community transmissions.

Some seem to get a kick out of being made to engage in these sorts of performances. Whether it’s individual pathologies around cleanliness and safety or a lust for authoritarian control, I dunno... but either way it makes me and plenty of others despair and would at least partly explain why crowds are down.

I’ve got a lot of other stuff going on, so I’m the type of fan who might attend 2-3 games in a normal year (with my kids). Not on my radar for 2021 though.

Just had a look at ticket prices, couldn't believe it.

A day out for a family of 4 -

2 Adults + 2 Junior $130 at MCG
+ Fuel
+ Parking
+ Food
+ Getting the kids a present
= Huge $$ for low income families

The footy is becoming out of reach for the common family..

My Saturdays are now at the local footy, because I have kids - in U18 and senior..
Have noticed the crowds are getting bigger and the atmosphere is much better

Tbh both games I've gone to this season haven't exactly been great experiences and as such I'm definitely happy to stay home and watch it on tv Friday night.

Rnd 1 - Despite multiple reassurances on the radio about extra train services getting fans home and social distancing yarda yarda I missed my train by a minute and had to wait half an hour and got home after midnight. Felt like s**t getting up the next day basically like i was hungover.

Anzac Eve - Couldn't sit with mates who weren't members or meet up with them at a bar so wasn't great. Had good seats but got wet when it starting raining and basically missed the 2 qtr waiting in line to get food.

For a 25 year member it's probably not a great sign that I'm not overly enjoying live games anymore and could have a better experience at home let alone save some $$$

Have posted this before but the zones at the MCG are becoming very frustrating. I sit in the AFL reserve and under the current system, can't walk around to other parts of the ground.

Was there on ANZAC Day and the AFL reserve was packed. Facilities for thousands of people were: 1x sit down bar with capacity for 140 people, 1x sit down cafe with seating for about 25 people (queues for a coffee were 30+ mins during the game), 2x take away outlets selling hot dogs and pies, 1x take away bar and 1x coffee cart.

That's simply ridiculous for the amount of people that were there, leading to queues and frustration.

Changed my mind and decided to get tickets for this Saturday's game against St Kilda. Really happy with the allocation this week - the last row on L3.

The AFL is f’ed.

I got third row from the front on Level 3 without any additional charge. I doubt they've sold out the top deck of Marvel Stadium for Hawthorn v St Kilda. I reckon they're just allocating bays to visiting members and shoving us all in the one place.

The Barassi Cafe is always full. Even for a small crowd the line is big
