Anyone going to watch or play in any of the tournaments throughout the Australian Championships at crown. International players coming out for the main event include Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Joe Hachem, Antonio Esfandiari, Tony G, Mike Sexton, David "The Dragon" Pham, Scott Fischmann, Chip Jett, Blair Rodman and Mel Judah. This along with all the top local players, and Negrenuea is rumoured to be coming out as well. These are just the confirmed big name entries.

The cheapest tournaments are $550 to buy into and theres sattelites running in the leadup and throughout for pretty much all of the events. My brother won into the $1600 speed poker event and a $1100 'Supershot Sattelite' for the main event where 1 in 10 gets entry into the $10500 main event, he's also planning to play the $500 events and the $1000 teams pot limit event if he doesn't get through to the main event which is on at the same time. I'll play in a few of the sattelites and hopefully get through to a couple of tournaments. Who else is planning to play and which events?

Re: Aussie Millions

i tried to qualify for the main event in a $60 sattelite at crown on sat morning. and here is how i was busted out, had pocket kings blinds where 200 i was first to act so i raised it 300, the guy next to me said all in and flipped his cards over.

Couldn't believe my luck when i saw ace 3 off suit, went around the table with everyone folding gets back to me quickly said call.

Flop comes 3 9 10 my kings still hold up turn comes j pretty confident of a double up here, then the river the 3 drops and my kings aren't so good anymore. good fun though i suggest if you can go down and try to qualify and the standard isn't very strong at all.

The phase ones are very poor standard right now, because most of the better players already have phase two and three entries if not a seat already.
The phase twos are fairly low standard again, but the phase threes will be tough competition.
The MTT sattelites with the rebuys are ok, thats where my brother got his phase three from - came fourth in that... top 3 got a main event seat ant 4-10 got phase three entry so he was really close. Not cheap though, $125 and you only get $1000 chips to encourage rebuys. If you're going to play them, budget $325 for it, as soon as you sit see one flop and fold it, and take the rebuy immediatley (giving you around $2000 chips which is a little more reasonable to play with) at the end of the rebuy period you can get an addon at 2 for one i.e for the $100 you get another $2000 chips. My brother didn't rebuy or addon because he built his chips to around $5000 by then anyway which was playable.
Otherwise just come down and watch and play the cheaper tournaments or play on the cash tables it will be a great time to play.

Re: Aussie Millions

I definitely plan on watching. Myself and a friend of mine decided earlier this year to play in some satellites, but he kinda got barred from the casino.

But I still plan on making it there to watch.

How'd ya Bro go Doug?
I finished about 290th out of 415ish
Got knocked out by Tony G

he was on the same table as Gary Benson.

Then his table got broken up - and he got moved to the same table as Gary Benson. Gary's reaction "Oh no, not you again!".

He had a field day stealing Gary's blind, but made one bad call, and finished just outside of the top hundred.

As host of Joker Poker, he's a silly Kiwi.

As winner of Aussie Millions, he's a great "Australian" :D

Just found out that he was born in the US.

Congratulations to Lee.

Commiserations must go to Joe Hachem though, who went all in pre flop with A K against K Q. The K Q hit four runners to make a flush. Talk about bad luck! (he hit the A and the K as well!)

Great effort from Lee "final table" Nelson.

I heard Lee 'final table' say that in tornament play he gets to the final table on average 1 out of 3 times.

Personally, was thinking of entering the $100,000 buy-in event (ok, $100,500 actually, but who's counting).

Re: Aussie Millions

******** I hate tournaments with rebuys. Its the worst thing about tournament play ever. Just give everyone the same amount of chips and be done with it. If you lose ya lose.
