Probably better to get 1 person who considers their best game NLHE, as opposed to me and Falchoon.

Yeah, you're right Borgsta. I assumed each player would have to play both games, but it does state here: "Teams will still consist of 2 players sharing one stack, but for the first time, players will play different Poker disciplines as one partner plays No Limit Holdem, and the other partner plays Pot Limit Omaha."

Maybe they should look at a PLO Teams Event one day.

How does the team event actually work? Also, is that entry fee per person or per team?

The fee is per team. The one I played at APPT involved each player playing one level. The tournament began with one player using half of the allocated (8000 iirc) chip stack. If they busted within the first level, the second player came in and played the rest of that level and the whole of the following level. If the player didn't bust, the second player adds their chips to the stack and take off for the second level. Thereafter, the players play alternating levels (even if the first player busted in the first level).

Re: Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series @ Crown

From TD Jonno:

Online Entries for the first two events of the Joe Hachem Deepstack Series have now closed. There are currently 124 entries into Saturday's event and 105 into Sunday's. Both tournaments will be locked out at 400 players.

i registered for sundays $230 nlhe (event 1) online. when i rang and asked if it would be capped at 500 (i saw in previous years it had been 500) he called over tourney director who said no?.. this would be 2nd time in as many champoinships (2010 aussie millions) where i have gotten wrong info when asking basic questions.

Poker is gay.

Got busted out by Steve Topakas after he limp-called my 5xBB raise with AJo (I had AQcc) and shoved all-in on me on an ace high flop.

J on the river and gg me.....

Finshed 40th in Event 2.

Got KO'd the hand before the second break. Had about 19k and had KK on the button, iit folded around to me and I shoved, the big-stack insta-called with A/Jo.

Once he flipped over his cards, I called for the ace on the flop and sure enough, there was an ace in the window..

Planning on playing day 1b on the Main Event this Friday, given that it's the shittest day of the year so there's nothing better to do.

29th out of 101 in omaha $230.

played ok, not great. felt like i was definately out of practice (played all of about 500 hands this year), but was still going ok.

then hit a pretty rotten run of cards which basically makes it impossible at these things. average stack was only 20bb when i was knocked out. ooo well, not my day.

He needed time to think things over. I mean, he didn't have a redraw.

On a board of 7:heart: 10:diamond: J:diamond: George Pavalos moved his short-stack all in to put his opponent to a decision.

After nearly twenty seconds of reasoning, his opponent made the call and Pavalos tabled his A:club: J:heart:.

Amazingly his opponent tabled 9:club: 8:spade: for the nuts to put some confused looks onto his fellow tablemates.

"I just wanted to take my time to consider the situation" said Pavalos' opponent as the turn and river landed the A:spade: 7:spade: to put Pavalos on the rail.

Although told he slowrolled, the opponent acted as if nothing happened and happily raked in the pot.

i overheard one of the crown tournament directors saying the next championship series was in may, but that's all i could give you - don't know what championships or any schedule.

To me, one of the biggest blights on poker is the absolute randomness of tournament payouts. You just need to compare Aussie Millions payouts to see that they make it up as they go. First place there has been anywhere between 20% of the prizepool to almost 40%.

Well this year's JHDS ME payouts have been announced. The biggest discrepancy is that 1st place is down 3.7%. At last year's ratio, 1st should be $94,500 but it's $80,050. Come back for JHDS 5 and 1st might be 28%. There's just no logic to it.

Code:
      JHDS ME3 JHDS ME4
ent. 643 784
PP 63 72
pool $321,500 $392,000

 1st - $77,500 $80,050 (down from 24.1% to 20.4%)
 2nd - $50,500 $56,000 (down from 15.7% to 14.3%)
 3rd - $32,000 $41,500 (up from 10.0% to 10.6%)
 4th - $23,500 $30,000 (up from 7.3% to 7.7%)
 5th - $17,000 $20,000 (down from 5.3% to 5.1%)
 6th - $12,000 $14,500
 7th - $ 9,000 $11,000
 8th - $ 6,500 $ 8,000
 9th - $ 5,000 $ 6,000
10th - $ 3,500 $ 4,500
...
last $ 1,000 $ 1,100 (this is good)

Such a slowroll. Can't believe I didn't see it before.

The JHDSS 5 dates have been announced. They're at the bottom of the current tournament calendar (below).

Wow, amazing how a year changes things. The $100 tourny I played in last year was a lot of money for me, will definitely be playing the ME this year! :)
