Are all of those tables 2/5?

If burswood and crown are going to go along the path of the same rake I could imagine it being

Red chip capped at 15% with no time charge

At Crown we are trying to remove the $1s from the game because they arent really needed and only slow the game down. getting rid of the 1's provides redchip rake which is better for us. Getting rid of time can leave tables running for longer and gives the impression recreational players are playing for free

They are talking about a $5 seat charge once you first sit down, personally I think thats a stupid idea

Yeah, all 2/5

Redchip rake is a solid idea and i actually like the idea of a straight up fee as you sit, because some people who dont understand the concept of a sunk cost will assume I have to play for 5 hours to justify my $5...

Far better then charging a to the dollar rake IMO...

August is film festival time for me but I had some time to kill last Friday in between sessions. Game is 2/3.

UTG (650): solid TAG Asian, I like his play, or at least I did
UTG+1 (~200): Aussie in his 40s, trying to trap too often cos table has been v. agg
BB (~900): online dude, wearing PS gear, talks too much, solid player tho

Asian raises 10, Aussie calls, another call, I call SB with AJo, PS pro makes it 60.

Asian shoves 650! Aussie shoves 200 or whatever he had, he's happy. Gets round to me and Aussie flashes his nuts to those of us still in the hand. I fold, pro snaps. Of course Aussie has AA, pro has KK and is going for the side-pot. Does pro call if he doesn't see AA before he makes his decision? With KK, yeah, so the AA flash doesn't change anything.

Board: [T95][2][9]

"Got lucky!" says the Asian. Paul Magriel would have been happy. Anger ensues.

How you gonna get rid of $1 chips ? Make all games $5/$5 or $5/$10

Yeah the game becomes 5/5

$1 chips dont play in the 5/10 game currently

1/2 and 2/3 will still exist obviously and play with $1 chips, but theres really no need for them at 2/5 and majority of time spent using them is when the dealer needs to give change to the SB or 'that guy' raises to $27. Just not needed.

Do you guys have deposit systems with the casino, and is it possible for me to transfer into that account from Burswood. I havent been in to ask them, but I dont think there is any harm in asking anyone here, since Burswood and Crown are under the same umbrella.

We have a deposit system. Just get a signature club card and go to the poker room cage and you can deposit as much as you like. Whenever you need it just return to the cage (the casino floor cages can get messy, they dont 'get it', so always use poker room) and get whatever you want out. Basically anyone playing 2/5+ uses it and most serious 2/3 players.

Personally I dont though. The security on it is very lax, its just a signature which they basically never check, call you need is your card which I've lost about 10 of in my time. One day I want to sign 'Im stealing this money' on the withdrawl slip to see if they notice because I honestly believe they wont.

Not sure about transfers though. I assume Crown has something setup but I dont know the limits or requirements.

Thanks

We have the same system, but there is photo ID to set up the account, and everytime you access the account your licence with photo pops up.

Just because you dont see it doesnt mean its not there. When I randomly decided to change my hair style they accused me of accessing someone else's account :)

Im ask them next time I am in if I can ship the beans over...

The photo ID thing makes sense and yeah its probably there which makes me feel better about it.

Just make sure you always use the poker room cashier. Twice I've used upstairs and it was a mess. One of them took about 20 minutes and 2 phone calls upstairs before I could withdrawl. Couldnt stop the process once it had started, got real messy.

I've never done this but I don't see why it should be a problem. If Crown could possibly f up the transfer they probably will.

I'm another one that doesn't use the account system at Crown anymore.

Cheers guys

I was in today and asked them, they said its cool to transfer, but I need to go to Crown to set up an account before they can send it over (I can send it over from Perth while I am in Melbourne), and given I dont have 100% trust that they are right, I will probably just bring over most of my tournament buy-ins, transfer more if I can, and hopefully just bink the first tournament when I get over there to save the issue (as well as try to not get mugged when in the airport).

Exact dates arent set in stone yet, but I should be over by next Saturday or so and there for a week (just confirming with a few Perth players who is going and staying where etc...) Im pretty sure that once dates are certain we need to organise a catchup of some sort.

Anyone who is interested in catching up for a drink and a sweat during the tournament series, send me a PM and we can take it from there...

First event starts tonight, decided I'll give it a miss and keep grinding cash for now, plus a few sattys here and there.

This Jeep promotion though is really giving me the shits

lol that all depends on how cheap you want to go

There are backpackers really close to Crown like the Pensione, and there are a tonne of standard hotels in the CBD within walking distance

The closer to the corner of Spencer st and Flinder st the better, its a 2 minute walk from there. Then there are a few apartment type buildings along city rd that are pretty close if you want to be on the other side away from the CBD

Anything along Spencer st has you pretty close to the Casino, only a short tram down or a walk. Once you start to move down Flinders st and upwards, the further and harder it is to get down to the Casino. You should book pretty soon though, weekends can sell out quickly. Not really up to speed though with it all because I've always had a house to go home to

You could save by not booking on your first night and just play all night and check in the next morning though lol

Is it your first time in melbourne? (as an adult)

I might head down Thursday for the loose change donkament.

Re accommodation, a cheap option would be a single private room at a city hostel. Depending on noise and location, that would be good enough for me.

Players card = Pin code to withdrawal?
Black PokerPro card

Get an Adult Return ticket on SkyBus - http://www.skybus.com.au/. Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport to Southern Cross Train Station (Spencer St), walking distance to Crown. If you're looking at sharing a room, then you should be able to find something decent on Wotif or LastMinute. If you're not sharing, then I assume you don't want to blow $1000 or so on a week's accommodation, and you'll need to do some searching around.

Familiarise yourself with a map of the Melbourne CBD.

Thanks guys. There a few people I am asking around who may want to split and based on that will dictate what happens next.

I am also looking at going to the West Coast vs Hawthorn Friday night game so if anyone else is going and wants to catch up for a pregame beer let me know.

If you're just coming for a few nights and want the absolute budget place to stay with ideal proximity to the casino stay at urban central on city Rd which is 5 mins walk from the poker room.

Otherwise pensione on Spencer street and the travelodge in South Bank are okay.

You'll be able to walk anywhere you'll need to go in melbourne from these locations.

If you want recommendations for anything else whilst you're here lmk.

Looked at Urban Central, sold out for the single rooms for two days in the middle. If it was only one day, I would have just left the room on the morning, play poker for 30hrs, return next day...

Ended up here

http://www.hotelclaremont.com/facilities.htm

which is a similar kind of deal at a pretty cheap rate (~$80 a night) which is 4km from Crown. Since the room is only for sleep effectively (hookers and blow unconfirmed as of yet) it will do.

Room booked for Saturday 25/8 through to the next Sunday. Looking forward to seeing you all around the place :)

South Yarra? WTF? Why bro? Bit far don't you think? And to think I was gonna suggest somewhere near Vic Market but thought that was too far LOL.

How about we catch up to watch West Coast v Collingwood? Unfortunately not many great places to watch at Crown. The first thing you should know about Crown Melbourne is they like to close things down and renovate, constantly, more often not for the better.

I'm not familiar with many good sports bars in Melbourne. By that, I mean big screens, multiple screens, sound, good food etc.

Yeah if you can I'd cancel that and just stay there on the days you can't stay at urban central. Constantly cabbing it back to chapel Street will get old real quick. Ymmv but I hate cabs like nothing else.

I'll probably be happy to catch up for a beer and a 2/3 donk around before the hawthorn vs West coast game.
