Lawrie Gibson was apperently on the ESPN coverage today

We played a fun han today

Its a $100r satty for the Western Classic Main event. Blinds are 300/600 no ante

Pre

Lawrie limps UTG. He is an old person so I assume he can have some monsters. Pat Healy completes SB. I have 15bb in Big and choose to check KJo since im mildy concerned about Laurie limping UTG.

flop: 1800: KT6r

Pat checks, I check, Lawrie bets 2200 into 1800

I call with the intention to fold to a pot size bet on the turn, as I expect him to freezeup a lot on turns with hands worse then mine

TURN: J

I check he checks

River 9

Any queen makes the straight. I choose to bet 2100 as a blocking bet, since he cant shove without a queen. He tanks for a long time and calls

I roll because I assume my hand is easy good

He rolls 78o for the headshot...

also worst dealer in the world to start the tourney

he could learn to flick, pitch, slide, pass, whatever a lot better

older asian guy

got half an orbit done in the entire first blind level

painful - then he was taken away

We got this dealer as well

There was one hand that went to a river (I rivered a straight, then got greedy and shoved for pot and a bit, he hero folded top pair) where we finished the hand with 15:00ish to go in the level, and by the time he collected cards, shipped me the pot, shuffled manually, collected blinds etc... two minutes had gone by.

Was horrible.

The upgrades have finally been mostly complete on the hotel side of the casino.

I have to say the additional area looks really nice, and is a lot brighter then the original main floor. Also during midweek where the casino isn't packed to the rafters, a lot of people were moving to slots over in the brighter area, like moths attracted to the light.

Also in good news, there is now a little coffee/deli place actually within the casino walls, so that saves me having to leave the premise to go to BruCafe, order my coffee/sandwich, and then get asked 20 questions by security when I try to re-enter the casino premises, even though I left literally 5 minutes ago, and havent done drugs, drank or whatever reason they dont want to let me in within that time.

Games however, arent great recently, and the 10% capped at $15 is just killing the games because now maybe 15% of the population can break even compared to say 30% when the games were raked far worse.

Also, Western Classic is on from 13th October. Would love to play the 5k High Rollers since everyone in that tournament generally sucks, but probably too late for that, and will probably just play the main with all of my own action as usual as well as all of the side events.

worst dealer in the world
Instead of casinos doing their utmost to bugger the punters more and more as time goes by, how about they demand productivity improvements from their own staff? When the recent changes first kicked in at Crown (Melbourne), I did see a few spare dealers keeping count of how many hands newer dealers dealt. It's obvious that casinos will take anyone on because if they raised their standards, there would be a gross shortage of dealers.

You must stick to a fairly worn path between the poker tables and the front door Ash. There's been a cafe place tucked away in the corner of the casino since it opened. Its not actually that far from the poker room.

They do a reasonable salt & pepper squid as well.

Before it became snax, it was actually a pretty good place to get a coffee and a ham & cheese croissant or a toasted sandwich. Ahhh, the old days...

I suppose the reason that I was really turned away from Snax/Jokers (I think that was what it used to be called) was one day I watched an older Asian man basically molest a hotdog before putting it back on the warmer tray.

Obviously if you are getting something made up for you to order its not too bad, but its nice either way to have the other option in the building.

Speaking of, its pretty obvious that the head honchos in charge have realised its far better to have the gambling tables in the middle of everything and have all the bars/eateries within the casino floor, so that degenerates have to go past blackjack etc... on the way to the next bar.

The old main floor is currently under renovation and I assume that it will be organised to be similar to the new one, a lot brighter etc...

Western Classic Poker Series started this weekend.

Pretty good turn-outs for the first few events. I played the Omaha and the Terminator, didnt do anything.

Some hands of note

I open the CO in Omaha with four random cards because the BB is not seated at the table. I get called by button and SB

I flop an OESD and third nut flush draw on an ace high board closing the end of the rebuy period. SB pots, I repot AI, button tanks for ages, claims to be behind, calls with naked second set (board A75) and wins. I roll my eyes and sarcastically say well played, not because of his hand, but because he claimed to be behind but called with a one out draw. He tells me to STFU about his hands, I almost challenge him to crossbook action (where I pay him whatever he wins and vice versa) but dont.

He eventually shipped it. (had I crossbooked I cost myself $9k, even though he take me up like 0.001% of the time)

-----------------------

NLHE with rebuys apperently had a 14 way chop... Wasnt there but has been confirmed by about 5 different people. One person took 5k, the rest took 15k or so...

-----------------------

Might not play tommorow, have a look at this for a LOL structure

Other then that, will probably play a Main Event somewhere and a couple of the later sides.... There is a non-zero chance I fly over for ANZPT Melbourne as well

Thanks

Hilariously on the Facebook page Perth poker scene (excellent page btw) they offered congratulations to those who did well for the series such as dale m luke s etc... they included me too despite me going 0/5 in cashing events that counted for player of the series lol (6max was simultaneous to ft of main so didn't count)

Fwiw busted main like an idiot shoving turn drawing dead like the wannabe internet pro i am...

Hi

Thought i would post one of the funniest hands I have ever won. It was Wednesday at Crown Perth, I was in big blind with 2 4 and someone raised to $30 and six people called , I have only $50 so just mucking around a call too. Flop comes Q 4 7 with two diamonds , one guy bets $70 and just as a donation a call with my last $20 and one other person calls. Next card is a blank and the guy that bet first on the flop goes all in for $220 and makes the other person fold top pair. River is a blank, I show my 2 4 and say the pots all yours and he says nope I was on a ace high flush draw. So I won the pot of over $270 with my pair of 4s , ok maybe you had to be there , it was funny at the time lol
