Busted Sapphire Series day 1A two levels to go.

Starting table was weird. It was one of the more soft tables, but I had the worst seat relatively speaking with the aggro fish on my left and the passive fish on my right. The first three levels started ok, but I played some terribly annoying hands which among others.

I raise pre with KTs. Lots of runners

Flop K88.

I check, four checks, button (little old lady) bets maybe 1/5th pot. I call field folds

Turn K88-T

I check, she bets the same bet, I call

River K88-T-3

I check, she shoves for 4x pot lol.

--------------------------------

I raise pre 2x, there is a 3bet to 5x, next in someone shoves for 75x. We all fold he shows KK

-------------------------------

Same overshove villian

I open AJo in the CO for 2x, a call, he shoves 78bb effective. We have history, I tank call (probably fold in a normal tournament, but gotta accumulate yo! other guy tank folds (lol wtf can you tank with and not 3bet a CO open).

Villian has A9o and he bricks

From there I had a well above average stack, played some hands pretty aggro, then punted off my stack to Amanda Decesare like an idiot

I open to 600 at 150/300/25 from MP she calls from button

FLOP: T84

I cbet 725, she makes it 1650, I call

Turn: K

I check, she bets 2075, I make it 5150, she makes it 12k, I tank shove for 29k she calls with KT I lose (I have QJ)

Probably the 2nd worst hand I have every played (in terms of how badly I butchered it, how little a bluff will work, what spot I gave up etc...)

From there I was left with a reshove stack, but people were not opening very wide at all and because of that I was shoving over limps rather then opens etc...

Eventually I have 10bb and check my option after two limps with K6o.

Flop K54 we call check

Turn Jack I shove hoping for Jx to look me up and someone limped 55 so good for him.

Aim tomorrow is to not play like an idiot.

Im not friends with the villian from this hand on FB, but I was linked to him having a go at me for playing like an idiot because of this, and that donkeys like me always get lucky...

Im pretty sure I saw you playing that hand Ash.

Had the great experience of being abused yesterday by a reg for "not raising enough when you have bullets" apparently if I had of raised more, he would have folded and not donked off $200+ chasing with 3 7 os.

Yeah, I would agree with that a bit

Its not 2007 anymore where a lot of the older regs could just sit and fold, make the nuts, get all the money from second pair etc... Because of that as the bottom of the poker economy has fallen out slowly the level of breakeven player has moved up and up swallowing those at the bottom of the food chain, and its only getting worse.

-----------------------------

Anyway, played the 500 today, cashed but disappointed (6th overall)

Played a funny hand early where I 3bet pre with K4 of spades, flopped a flush draw and bet shoved and got called. My opponent rolls K8 of spades, and sure enough, I have K4 of clubs.

Doesnt matter, made a backdoor straight :)

Got to final table, butchered a couple hands

First one I 3bet light vs one of the aggro guys who was never folding pre, and with position, was probably going to own me too hard postflop.

Later, Amanda DeCesare opens button for 2.25x 7 handed, gets jammed on by the BB for 12bb effective for her stack (he was playing 30ish bb) and she tank called AQ, which I thought was pretty lol given how aggro SB is.

My bustout hand, I open 2x, a good local jams for 11bb from the SB. Amanda SNAP puts in all her high denomination chips which has me covered. At this point I should be folding every thing less then KK IMO but I think I made a pretty bad call with AK.

SB has Q9s
I have AK
Amanda has AA obviously, I flop nothing and am dead by the turn.

Probably could have folded and tried to get a bit further up the payscale, but at the new level I would have only had 10bb I think if I folded so might have been tougher to climb to 4th or 3rd, let alone win.

Came 3rd in the $300 end of month tournament today.

Was a very lol moment where we arrived at our final table and one of the staff told us that there would no longer be antes in play. After a moment of wtf clarity came through and we had antes until HU, where antes would stop. Probably would have been a top 3 lolburswood moment.

Anyway tournament was funny 7 left and chip leader had about 75% of the chips leading to a lot of folding on my behalf when I was in 2nd overall and had half the average stack. Stupid ICM, and stupid that the villian (who is a very nice guy) was smart enough to raise 90% of hands, knowing everyone was looking to move up the payscale.

lol...

I was pretty tired the whole tournament, I wasn't going to play, then I arrived and there was 5/10 running, so I played that until the last 30 minutes of registration, busted in 5 minutes, re-entered and took it from there.

Plus I have the short-term memory of a goldfish

Im not usually one to congratulate Bwood for things they do, but the schedule for the Western Classic looks excellent.

3 events of 1k+ including a 2 days 6max event, actually has a larger number of bigger events which is good, because now I dont need to finish top 3 in a side event to win for the series if I brick the main event.

Yeah, the 6max with sats looks excellent.

Seriously Crown Perth poker room is the worst run poker room I have played in. I was at Crown Perth last Wednesday , as Wednesday is the only day they have a 1/2 game going. I put my name on the list to play. There was 11 players on the list for over a hour with two dealers just sitting there doing nothing. I asked the guy in charge why not open a table. He wouldnt open a table because he didnt want people to move over from the 2/5 game to the 1/2 game!

Seriously a 12 year old kid could run things better than they do. Having only one type of game going ( 2/5 ) 95% of the week and trying to get the big players and the small players to play in the same game is always going to fail. Perth management should take a trip to Crown Melbourne and see how they run their room because these guys are clueless. Combining the above with silly rules about not buying drinks with chips and not using mobile phones makes Crown Perth look like a joke compared to many other poker rooms.

Sorry to people that think I am being too harse but someone needs to say something.
