Crown Poker Championship (Melbourne)

Given the demise of the Victorian Poker Championship (d. Aug 2010) and the Melbourne Poker Championship (d. May 2012), together with the WSOP scheduling the WSOP-APAC every other year, Crown Melbourne has needed to introduce a new tournament series. I see this series returning in upcoming years.

I really hate how Crown presents their schedules. For starters, wish they would separate the Quals/Sats from the Events. It's just a messed up wall of text. How about something user-friendly like:

Q = Turbo $20/$10r MAIN EVENT Step 2 Qual.
1 = Turbo $65 MAIN EVENT Step 1 Sat. (1 in 5 win)
2 = Turbo $250 MAIN EVENT Step 2 Sat. (1 in 5 win)

Weekdays - 2:10 & 4:10 daily

$220+30 Step 2 Satellite - Turbo (1 in 5 win a M.E. seat)
Saturday - 4:10PM, Sunday - 7:10PM

I know there is a slight difference between a $550 and a $1k, but there were a few Perth players who played the $1k 6max at the last ANZPT whom I would definately have recommended to save their money, since they were drawing almost dead.

I mean, my starting table for that tournament was

asjbaaaaf (A top 5 NZ online pro)
Michael Kanaan (who is a boss)
two local guys who are pretty damn handy

And the next table over had Jono K, WhiteRabbito, and a heap of other stars, so if the $550 6max is similar, then I strongly recommend putting it toward the accumulator or an entry into one of the $400 events.

Anyway, I booked my flights and accom for this yesterday so am definitely heading over. I arrive on the Friday morning, will decide when I land whether I am going to play the ANZAC Cup day event or whether I will spend the day watching football.

I have a Step 2 ticket so I have to play that some time. Was thinking Saturday but I see there's no Step 2 satellite on. 6:10pm on Friday is a stupid time given the footy. Maybe I'll go in Sunday.

I'm looking at one of the $350 tournies (don't have the time for the main event, dammit) and those structures appear OK. Not great but better than the normal Crown offering

played as well, busted pretty quickly 3bet shoving 5k at 150/300 with JJ v AQ, he calls and I lose the flip

structure was woeful, worse than I expected though I was expecting something bad, but antes at 150/300 so I assume they are running without antes until day 2
