Injury Report.


Round 18 Team Selection.


The Crows will face the 18th placed Suns, expecting to win two on the trot after momentarily knocking the Magpies out of the top four. Lynch, Doedee, Smith and Seedsman will bring in plenty of experience and will replace Knight (hamstring), Atkins (suspended), Brown and Cox. The Crows will have their hands full with Witts (avg 31 Hitouts) and his young midfield crew of Fiorini, Bowes and Weller. Knight's absence is particularly disappointing for the Crows, as he was the leading goalkicker for them in 2020, and the current leader in 2021.

The Crows will be licking their wounds after losing to the bottom placed Suns. The Crows were seemingly in control early in the third before a 12 goal blast from the Suns earnt them a 10 point win. The Crows ruck problems continued with Witts dominating, and up forward it was Wright kicking four goals. For the Crows, B Crouch and Lynch both tried hard but Seedsman might find himself straight back out of the side.

Round 19 Team Selection.


After their frustrating loss to the Crows, the coach has once again swung the axe. Kelly (arm) was injured in training, while Himmelberg, Jones, Seedsman and Urbanih make way for Mosquito (Ex Bombers – upgraded rookie), Davis, Brown, Frampton and Sholl. Mosquito's selection has raised some eyebrows as his reserves form hasn't been very consistent, but it is understood they would like to see him run out in the seniors before the contract deadline. The Crows will take on the 7th placed blues, aiming to put their finals hopes into disarray. H McKay has 54 goals to his name, and looms as another big task for Walker. Walsh is also averaging 120 fantasy points and one of the favourites for the Brownlow. Smith for the Crows will play game 200, a magnificent effort. Ruckman Obrien will also play his 50th game.



A fast finish was the only thing saving the Crows from another heavy defeat. The game was tight until the third quarter when the Blues took control of the match. McKay and Walsh were unstoppable, while Sloane, Murphy and Milera were standouts for the Crows. Davis looked lost at the level, and the coach may be losing patience in Fogarty. The 22 point loss means that the Crows will remain on the bottom of the ladder.

Round 20 Team Selection.


The Crows have listed another set of ins and outs as the coach desperately tries to find the right balance, while also ramping up list planning for next year. The Crows will see themselves as a chance against the 3rd placed Hawks, who are missing Omeara due to an ACL injury. Nash, Seedsman and Schoenberg return, and McAdam will play his first game in 2021. Francis, Warner and Knight are all on the long-term injury list, hence why Mosquito, Nash and R Grundy are all able to play in the seniors.

The Crows have suffered another humiliating loss to the Hawks, prompting suggestions that the re-build is not a build at all. The Hawks midfield lead by Mitchell, Scully and Worpel continuously fed the forward line all day, and the margin ended an appropriate 54 points. The Crows never really looked in the game, and any time they got remotely close the Hawks put on a show to extend the buffer. Milera and Obrien played well, and R Grundy showed his potential when swung forward. Doedee has again gone done with an injury, this time to his back. McAdam and Sholl will be in the firing line after quiet performances.

The Crows have the chance to leapfrog the Kangaroos on the ladder this weekend, a team that they have not lost to since the coach took over at the start of 2020. Both sides have had minimal success over the last two seasons and will be eager to show the other that they are on a brighter path. Doedee (back) leads the list of outs which includes Mosquito, Nash, McAdam, and Sholl (all omitted). Fogarty, Atkins (back from suspension), Himmelberg, Gallucci and Hamill have all been recalled. This one has ‘Kreuzer cup’ written all over it, but surely both teams would prefer to win over getting the number 1 pick in which is set to be a bumper draft class. M Crouch will also play game 150.

The Crows have suffered another painful loss, this time against the lowly Kangaroos after leading by five goals early in the game. Another lacklustre third term meant that the Kangaroos took all the momentum into the last and won the game by 13 points. Turner, E Cameron (2021 number 1 draft pick) and Daw all ensured the Crows will have no joy in season 2021. Milera, R Grundy, Sloane and M Crouch all had good games, but it just wasn't enough to overcome a spirited and hungry opposition. This confirms that the Crows will finish in last, and hold the number one pick in the 2022 draft.

In a crazy fixture anomaly, we will have a repeat of last week’s game – however this time it will be a genuine dead-rubber. The Kangaroos enter the game unchanged, while the Crows have made four changes. Kelly returns from injury, and is joined by Lynch, Jones and Frampton. The Crows would be desperate to end the season with a win, despite knowing it does not change their ladder position. They would be hurting as a group, and this is a chance to take some confidence into the off-season. Could this be the last time Walker runs out for the Crows? Lynch? Have we seen the last of Smith and Seedsman?

The Crows coach must be absolutely out of answers, as his team went down by 3 points in their final match of the season. The Crows this time only have themselves to blame, as their kicking at goal was simply woeful. In addition, their lack of ability to hold teams off in third quarters once again killed them. Polec and Cunnington fired for the Kangaroos, while Milera, Keays and Sloane were the main contributors for the Crows. The coach and team were visibly flat after another failed season, and questions will be asked heading into next season. The Crows will need to draft well this off-season to give themselves any chance at improving long term.

Jones, Walker and Atkins all expressed their interest in a trade to their home state if possible.








There were no offers for Atkins, Jones or Walker.
The Crows were able to deliver on two of their targets, while moving up slightly in the draft.
It is a shame to lose Brown, but the sentiment is that he has under-performed in the last two seasons.

The Crows have had another busy off-season, as they try to compile a list to challenge the other teams in the competition.

Adding [PLAYERCARD]Zac Bailey[/PLAYERCARD] through a trade with the Lions will give them some speed, forward pressure and some scoreboard impact.
Lachlan Johnson has been targeted as a lock down small forward, and was part of the [PLAYERCARD]Luke Brown[/PLAYERCARD] trade and getting up the draft order.

The Crows have been looking at Aaron Stearns all season. Key Forward from South Australia, could be the man to lead them out of their mess.
Pool is a small forward with huge upside from the NT.
Callum Christen was the best available mid at pick 37.
Clay McGuirk is a full-back. Bit of a roughie but could pay off.

[PLAYERCARD]Tom Hickey[/PLAYERCARD] was a great back up for Nic Nat at the Eagles, and should put pressure on Obrien as the #1 ruck.

Kileen is a small defender, was highly rated but slid to the rookie draft.

Pre Season Team Selection.


Its time to do it all again for the 2022 AFL season, and the Crows have had a busy off-season. In their first match they will play none other than the Kangaroos, with whom they have a bubbling rivalry. The selected team contains two new faces in Lachlan Johnson (Trade in – Bombers) and Aaron Stearns (2021 number 1 draft pick). The Kangaroos will have some new players on the park also in what should be an entertaining contest.

The Crows finally got the monkey off the back by beating the Kangaroos, and having a strong third quarter. Eight goals to one in the second half ensured a 54 point win. Although it was just a pre-season game, the Crows are happy to get into winning form no matter the format. Atkins and McHenry played exceptional games, and Stearns had a good first run as a Crow. Thomas and Dumont were solid citizens for the Kangaroos, who had plenty of young players out there from the last two drafts. Full bill of health for the Crows and no reports, but Johnson and Obrien were very quiet.

The Crows are set to play the Demons in their second pre-season game after advancing into the next round of competition. Walker comes in to try and show he’s still got it, and Hickey will play as the ruck after Obrien’s efforts against the Kangaroos. The Demons struggled last year so this match does present a good opportunity for the Crows to continue their winning ways.

The Crows will be disappointed with their overall performance, especially as they only scored three goals after quarter time. The Demons simply went up a gear in the second and did not look back, leaving the Crows in their wake. Langdon, Salem and Preuss were all good for the Demons, while Sloane, B Crouch and R Grundy flew the flag for the losers.

Round 1 Team Selection.


The Crows will face the Bombers in their first game for the 2022 season with hope that they can finally start to see real improvement after two years of rebuilding. Their pre-season form was promising but still contained many of their old habits. Schoenberg is being managed due to a niggle sustained in training, and Walker will make way for Fogarty. Two players are making their AFL debut in Johnson (Ex Bombers) and Stearns (2021 Nat draft #1 Pick). Bailey will play his first game for the Crows. Bailey (Ex Lions) will also play his first game for the Crows and Obrien will come straight back in for Hickey.

The Crows looked for the most part like a team that can compete with the better sides of the competition, but for their ability to stop a rampaging McKenna who kicked six goals. The Crows went down by 28 points and weren't able to build on a positive start to the match. Sloane, Milera and Keays were excellent and Stearns kicked four goals in a promising debut performance. Aside from McKenna, Merrett was clearly the Bombers best picking up 37 disposals and 10 tackles. Jones and Bailey were very quiet and may be vulnerable at selection next week. B Crouch was reported for umpire contact and Bailey had complaints of a shoulder injury but ran the game out.

Round 2 Team Selection.


The Crows will take part in their third showdown since the new coach took over in 2020. Butters, Duursma and Lycett were all strong last round for the Power and will demand plenty of attention from the Crows who have recalled experienced due Lynch and Seedsman. B Crouch (suspension) and Jones are the outs.

An 11 goal to two second half meant that the Crows yet again demonstrated their tendency to stop after the main break. They will be left feeling flat and searching for answers after losing a game they thought they could win. Lycett and Williams were just too good for the Crows, who were well served by Milera, M Crouch and Sloane. Stearns and Johnson were quiet and may have a nervous week on the track. The Crows find themselves in very familiar territory at 0-2 and outside the top eight.

Brownlow medallist Milera will run out in game 100, with his last 30 games being absolutely elite!

Round 3 Team Selection.


The Crows will face arch-rivals the Kangaroos in Round 3, and both teams will be desperate to open their accounts for season 2022. Both teams will be disappointed with their start and have had some good match ups in recent years. Knight has been omitted after a slow couple of weeks, and B Crouch comes back in from suspension. Johnson can count his lucky stars that none of the defenders set the world on fire in the reserves, however questions are beginning to be asked about the absence of McAsey from the side.

The Crows have emerged winners in an undulating contest. The Kangaroos were running away with the game in the third but the Crows were able to stabilise and stay in the contest, before kicking six goals to one in the last. R Grundy was swung forward when the Kangaroos went small, and took the game by the scruff of the neck kicking five goals in a quarter. He is having a terrific season so far, and paying back the faith shown in him by the coaching staff. Comben outplayed Obrien and Dumont was good for the Kangaroos. The Crows best players other than Grundy were Sloane, M Crouch, Doedee and McHenry.

Round 4 Team Selection.


Trade acquisition Bailey has been dumped for the Crows’ round 4 date with the Saints. Mosquito comes in as the only change from a winning round 3 side. The Crows still have plenty to work on after only just overcoming a determined Kangaroos side. The Saints sit 13th with the same win-loss record, but are brimming with talent including Ross, Billings, Buster and Ratugolea (Ex Cats). The Crows will need to be at their best to make it two wins in a row. Fogarty plays game number 50 this week also.



The Saints have recorded a 58-point win over the Crows after a stunning second half of 17 goals to 2. The Crows had kicked out to a reasonable lead at the main break (thanks mainly to the wayward kicking of their opposition), only to be put to the sword by a fast-finishing Saints outfit. R Grundy once again kicked 5 goals in a quarter when swung forward, but it wasn’t enough as they were overcome by a powerful outfit. Sloane, M Crouch and Doedee had strong games, and Obrien had his best performance of the season so far. Lynch suffered a hamstring injury and did not return. The Crows had plenty of passengers, with Johnson, Fogarty and Mosquito the main offenders.

Round 5 Team Selection.


Warner will make his long-awaited return to AFL football this weekend after he went down in Round 10 last season. He will add some much-needed grunt to the Crows midfield and would be hoping to build upon the encouraging start he had to his career prior to injury. Johnson has been omitted, while Lynch goes out with a minor hamstring. Sholl joins Warner as the other inclusion, playing his first game for 2022. The Crows take on the 14th placed Swans for whom Hewett and Stoddart have been stars so far this year. Francis will play game number 50 this week, and has been a good recruit for the Crows after crossing from the Bombers.

The return of Warner has had a huge impact on the fortunes of a perennially struggling Crows side. They recorded a 27 point victory over the higher fancied Swans, lead by Warner, B Crouch, Sloane and Stearns. Papley scored four goals in the first quarter, however was not able to add to his tally while Graf was also good for the Swans. The Crows will be over the moon, after a win and a new found pressure on players for spots in 2022.

Round 6 Team Selection.


The Crows will be charged up and ready for their Round 6 clash against a team they haven’t beaten since the coach took over. The Bulldogs boast an incredible midfield and currently sit 9th on the ladder. Naughton already has 19 goals through the first five rounds and will be looking to fill his boots against an unproven Crows defence. Warner will be itching to get out and test himself against a top-quality midfield after his successful return last round. Mosquito and Kelly have made way for Wild and McAsey.

The Crows have dropped a game that they would say they should have won. Inaccurate kicking was the poison for the Crows, in addition to some Bontempelli brilliance (27 disposals - 3 goals). Milera was gigantic for the Crows in the loss with 39 touches and two goals. Sloane, Obrien and Warner were all solid contributors also. The Crows go 2-4 but will know that they should have a 50-50 record and this will sting for future weeks. Francis came off during the match with a soft-tissue injury, which left a hole in the defence and forced Grundy to go back.

Round 7 Team Selection.


The Crows will face a powerful third placed Hawks in their Round 7 match. After heart break last week, they will be looking to respond and repay the faith that their supporter base has held in them for so long. Jones, Kelly and Urbanih all come into the side as Francis (hasmstring), Sholl and Seedsman all make way. Worpel and Mitchell are both averaging above 25 disposals and a goal this season and will require significant attention if the Crows are to compete.

Sloane will play in game 250 for the Crows, and he shows no sign of slowing down!

The Crows showed guts, grit and determination to defeat a very good side in the Hawks. It looked like business as usual as the Hawks began to run away with the game in the 2nd, but the Crows held it together and finished with a flurry. It was an even performance across the board for the Crows but they were well led by M Crouch and Atkins. Brilliance from young Daroche of the Hawks was not enough to get his side over the line against a spirited Crows outfit who now sit 3-4.

One forced change for the Crows this week after B Crouch suffered a concussion at training. Stengle will play his first game for 2022, after consistent showings in the reserves. The Crows take on the 5th placed Blues, who’s percentage of 93% gives the idea that they could be vulnerable. [PLAYERCARD]Sam Walsh[/PLAYERCARD] is once again in red-hot form, averaging 33 disposals and a goal per game. He has hurt the Crows in the past, who have now referred to just going head-to-head with opposition midfields rather than trying to tag.

A 10 goal last quarter for the Blues led by McKay has ripped the hearts out of the Crows and their fan-base. After working so hard to get back into the contest, the Crows will be incredibly deflated by the way they finished. C Curnow was the damager early, and the Crows were wayward in their kicking – something that is not uncommon. Young Serene was also excellent for the Blues, showing their depth of talent. Sloane, Milera and Warner were good for the Crows in a game they’d like to forget.

Ned McHenry will play his 50th game as the Crows face the top-placed Tigers. The Crows will be still feeling the sting of last weeks loss against the Blues, and eager to prove themselves all over again. B Crouch will not play, as the Crows are treating his concussion with caution. Callum Christen (Pick 33 – 2021 Draft) will make his debut. Hickey and Johnson join him as the ins this week, while Fogarty, Stearns and Wild all make way. T Lynch and J Higgins are both having top seasons for the Tigers, who don’t seem to have lost any of their bite.

The Crows have pulled off a stunning upset by defeating the top ranked Tigers. They won by four goals in the end, thanks largely to a seven goal third quarter. Milera, Warner and Keays were all significant performers, while the coach will be stoked with Christen's debut (18 disposals, 2 goals, 5 tackles). Higgins and Houli fired for the Tigers but the determined Crows were able to make the most of their chances when it counted, and ran out the game stronger. The Crows will regain some key players this weekend in B Crouch and Francis, while Stearns and Frampton have been recalled. This comes at the expense of Smith, Hickey, Stengle and Urbanih. The latter two would consider themselves unluckiest, after reasonable performances in recent weeks. However, it does further demonstrate the growing depth at the Crows and positive signs for the future. The Crows take on the Lions, a team who they have achieved some success against and one that is currently below them on the ladder. However, Hipwood, Neale and McCluggage will all have other ideas.

The Crows have prevailed in an absolute thriller against the fast starting Lions. Things looked pretty bleak for the Crows at quarter time, and to an extent half time as well. But key contributions from the Crows midfield, plus Atkins, Laird and Johnson meant that they held off and defeated Hipwood and the Lions. Warner left the field in the last quarter and went straight to the rooms, which was a concerning development for the team and its fans. However, a truly brilliant win from the Crows who must now be carrying some serious belief in themselves.

The Crows are set to take on the 14th placed Eagles and will be eager to move towards a positive win-loss record for the first time in the coach’s tenure. Fogarty and Bailey come in to replace Warner (medical illness) and Frampton in what looms as a huge opportunity for the Crows. The Eagles will be without Naitanui and young gun Alvarez, however Sheed is having a huge season averaging 27 disposals and a goal per game. The Crows will be wary of the wounded opponent, of whom is still stacked with match winning talent.

The Crows have emerged victorious by 22 points in a match that won’t go down as the most skilful game of AFL ever played. Both teams were wasteful, and turnovers were plentiful, but the Crows were the better side for most of the day against an Eagles outfit that did not have an established ruck. Keays was a star with 32 touches and 10 clearances, plus Laird and Francis repelled many attacks from the opposition. It was an even performance from a Crows side that has now won three games on the trot, the coach’s longest streak since taking over in 2020.

Round 12 Team Selection.


The Crows will have a second date with the Bulldogs in Round 12, a team that they lost to narrowly last time. The Bulldogs are without Bontempelli, but have significant depth in their midfield to cover his sizeable absence. Fogarty has yo-yo’ed back down into the reserves, and Bailey will join him as they make way for Nash and Warner.

The Crows won what was another genuine thriller for the second time this year against the Bulldogs, showing the AFL world that they are here to push for finals, and progress from being a consistently bottom eight team. The Crows were out of the blocks early in the first quarter, only to be reeled back in the second. From there the margin didn't go above one goal either side and the Crows came up trumps in a nail biter. Naughton and Lindsly kicked nine goals between them for the Bulldogs, while Gowers and Dunkley also played well. The Crows had performers all over the ground but were led by Warner who had 27 disposals, eight tackles and eight clearances. Himmelberg went down with a groin, while Atkins and Murphy were very quiet.
