The Adelaide Football Club wishes to advise that it has delisted five players after the completion of trade week.
Jason Torney, Ian Perrie, Matthew Bode, John Hinge and Darren Pfeiffer have today been told they will not be contracted with the Crows for the 2008 season.
Additionally, Adelaide has told rookies Andrew McIntyre and James Turner that they will not be with the club in 2008.
However, the Club has decided to upgrade Greg Gallman from the rookie list to the primary list and will also add its New South Wales scholarship player Taylor Walker to the primary list before the November national draft.
Perrie, 28, leaves Adelaide after playing 116 AFL games and kicking 129 goals in ten seasons. Drafted from East Perth with pick No 49 at the 1997 national draft, Perrie made his AFL debut in 1998.
Crows General Manager – Football Operations John Reid said: “Ian must be congratulated on his long career with the Adelaide Football Club. He has made the most of his talent and been a valuable contributor to our football club over a decade, which is a great credit to him. We thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best.”
Torney, 30, played 118 AFL games for Richmond from 1995-2002 and then 77 games for the Crows. He was originally drafted from South Adelaide. Bode, 28, started his AFL career with Port Adelaide but after playing 29 games for the Power switched to Adelaide before the 2001 season. He played one game in 2007 for a total of 79 with the Crows.
Reid said: “Jason and Matthew have both been great recruits to our football club. Both had injury problems in their time with us but they also were at times able to play some wonderful football for the club. They were also strong members of the team, on and off the field.
“These decisions were difficult to make but we need to provide greater opportunities to young players on our list and it also allows us to add more youngsters to our program.”
Hinge, 21, was upgraded from the rookie list at the end of the 2006 season. He played one AFL game this year but strained a hamstring in this match and did not receive any further opportunities with the Crows.
Pfeiffer, 20, has not played an AFL game in two seasons with Adelaide since he was drafted from Norwood with pick No 17 in the 2005 national draft.
Reid said: “We would also like to thank these young men for their efforts and wish them all the best for their football futures.”
Adelaide has now made nine changes to the 2007 primary list. The other players no longer with the Crows are Mark Ricciuto (retired), Ben Hudson (traded to the Western Bulldogs), Martin Mattner (traded to Sydney) and John Meesen (traded to Melbourne).
With the arrival of Brad Symes (from Port Adelaide), Brad Moran (Kangaroos) and the addition of Gallman and Walker to the senior list, Adelaide will have five picks (TBC 10, 27, 30, 38 and 59) at the AFL national draft in November.
