Trust me..if Pfeiffer had been playing for any other club he would have done very very well by now.

We just didn't have a youth policy at all in function with out football club, and this is what will contribute to our downfall in years to come.

Have a look at the first round of the 2005 draft. Everyone was given a chance regardless of reserves form...just purely based on talent, it has reaped dividends for other clubs, Pfeiffer can't languish in the reserves for two years...it just won't develop his game enough.

We blew it once again.

GIVE THEM AN OPPORTUNITY FFS

This is a damn good crop of players.

Yet we played Douglas...

Age saved them, for now.

kind of agree with that but when you think Torney might of played two more seasons and probably would of played nearly all the games baring injury and Jericho will be lucky to play more than 5 games for the rest of his career and will probably be delisted next year

so Torney i think would have offered a lot more to the club than Jericho even thogh he's 30 and Jericho's 25

I heard Torney had been delisted, and I was going to come in here and spit the dummy - a rant along the lines of Adelaide refusing to make truly hard decisions, and instead making easy decisions (Torney/Hart) based on age, which look hard.

But then, Bode gone :(

Perrie gone :)

Hinge gone :|

Torney gone :~(

Pfeiffer gone - wtf?!

Surely we're going to redraft Pfeiffer, and this is designed as a bit of a wake up call for him? If we're going to head down the youth path, surely delisting one of our most promising youngsters doesn't make sense?

And I really hope Torney was happy to retire - there is no way he deserved to be delisted based on form; I'd take him over Doughty and even Massie any day of the week.

And I always, always bagged Perrie - but he did his best for a long time, have to thank him for that.

Hey Drummond didn't you say that Chad Gibson was also going to show the AFC that they had made the wrong call ;)

Well Gibson, Meesen, and Pfieffer have shown what a great development grounding Norwood provides.

BTW who was the last Norwood player to do anything with the Crows??? .....would that be Pittman 10 years ago :p

But maybe Jericho will prove you wrong and be Norwoods great hope to make it with the Crows :p
I was wrong with Gibson; too injury prone.

I would like to think Meesen will make the grade but there are doubts over him. I can’t say with 100% confidence he’ll have a successful AFL career but I would like to think so.

As for Pfeiffer, I can safely say without any hesitation that he WILL play a lot of AFL football. When he’s playing AFL football with another club who can see talent, bump any comment I’ve made about him,

I have to be honest Drummond, aside from one game where he did a few good things, I haven't really rated him. Zero awareness, struggles a bit with decision making, we may rookie him or something but he has never set the world on fire and hence never made his debut.
That’s because you’ve seem him all of two times on ABC.

20 years old actually. And bullshit, if he was a champion in the making he'd be in Adelaide's starting 22 by now.
He’s not in Adelaide’s starting 22 because of his supposed issues, why don’t you understand this?

Get over yourself Drummond, hardly a Crows Supporter with those sort of comments.
Fair call.

Doughty turns 29 next year, he's not young, he's a waste.

He handballs backwards and kicks sideways...I'd be more useful in crows colours.

Remember I said Pfeiffer would be delisted and you all abused the crap out of me???

It wasn't for lack of a youth policy, the kid simply did not demand a spot in Adelaide's side at all. Bryce Campbell outshined him, Porplyzia outshined him, Vince outshined him, Douglas outshined him, heck MacKay walked straight into the South Adelaide side and played a 20+ possession debut game while Pfeiffer continued to underperform at Norwood. He's had chances and hasn't produced the footy to take those chances. It's 100% his own fault.

If this guy was any good he would have played. Same goes for Meesen.

If he is serious about playing AFL, he'll have a chat to Porpylzia, who went through a similar experience.

Whatever you want to believe...

He’s not in Adelaide’s starting 22 because of his supposed issues, why don’t you understand this?

Exactly, HIS issues. This is not some twisted plot by N. Craig to sabotage our list, this is Darren Pfeiffer not getting the job done on and off the ground to the standard expected from an AFL-listed player. It is entirely his own fault and I have no sympathy for him.

Can you please get it though your head that ON FIELD is not the issue. Does a month stretch of best, 2nd best, 3rd best, best sound like an underperforming player to you? You do realise Porps, Bryce and Bernard are all 2+ years older than Darren? You do realise Mackay played ONE league game all year, great game but it was ONE game.

You are the most unintelligent poster I have ever seen, and there are a few, but you take the cake.

Pfeiffer - I really like this bloke as a player. I hope like hell we rookie list him. Do we have priority on him in the rookie draft if it goes that way? I can't believe we'd delist someone like him, given the stage we're in at present.
That's the thing mate, bar one or two players we've got pretty much no young talent coming through and we decide to dump a 20 year old who could be anything. Nice on AFC, nice one. I can see you're preparing well for the future.

Can you show me a quote that says we refused to play him when he was good enough because of off field issues?

In that string of best, how many were best on field? Being best in a crappy team isnt as impressive as you make it sound.

MacKay had a bad year with injury no doubt. However, only his first year, and atleast hes managed to stay out off trouble.

Why would he chat to him? Pfeiff will be drafted by a lucky (or plain sensible) club this year.

So are people out there trying to tell me there are NO players in the league without off field issues? Daniel Connors, expected to be a top 15 pick last year slipped to 58/59 because of off field issues. He played solid footy for Coburg before making his debut for the Tigers this year. Yes it's Richmond, but the kid appears to have issues and yet they viewed his talent to be MORE IMPORTANT.

A one month stretch for the worst club in the comp in TWO YEARS ON OUR LIST does not make the cut!! And that month stretch was not of a standard that warranted an Adelaide call-up, or else he would have played. Quit holding onto five minutes of football and understand this is about the entire performance of Darren over his time at the club; it's not good enough, and that's why he is gone.

It's funny how this "unintelligent poster" proves to be correct on almost every occasion.

Settle pettle, youll pop a vein. Unlike the others, Darren has yet to take an SANFL game by the neck, the rest have (usually against the Blues:() but yes he has had some great games. Just wait until after the Draft, we may redraft him like Porps and Shirley. I dont think on field is an issue either but maybe a strict 1 year performance based contract was the way to go.

I just don't understand how somebody like Didak...Sampi...Farmer..who'm are all older blokes get extra chances to stay at their respective clubs regardless of the off field issues.

Younger kids should be given a little more leeway.
Purely on talent..Pfeiff is ahead of Jericho, Doughty maybe a couple more..no doubts about that.

The only thing I can think off..is that Darren has done a few more nasties...that the AFC has not released to the public..that's what I feel has happened here.

Sure - Cousins, Didak, McLeod, Edwards, Fevola...see a pattern here? These are all great players; Pfeiffer is a mere child who has never truly exploded on-field, and has been poor off-field as well. Both have counted towards his delisting.

Seen a lot of him...he's a freak mate...freak, Steve Johnson comparable.

totally agree if there inforcing kicking out older players to think 1 year of age stands between Torney who had a great season with Doughty who played the same s**t season he always does

Older, established players are too valuable to be removed; the kids are dispensible.

Does anyone else remember Drummond's reaction to us delisting Gibson?

His whining about Pfeiffer sounds very familiar.

How is Gibbo going anyway?
How’s your ability to read coming along? Look up and I think you’ll find I said Gibson’s too injury prone.

BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T GOING TO PLAY HIM REGARDLESS! Oh man, this is pointless, you are simply too dumb to understand that it’s the off field issues that was what prevented him for making his debut. He has NOT been delisted because of his “inability” to play, if you think that you’re even dumber than I gave you credit for.

Hahaha :thumbsu:

The club has gotten ruthless with its attitude towards the players all of a sudden. I like it.

Has it, or is it making easy decisions which look hard?

Bode - age + injury

Perrie - age + injuries + average

Pfeiffer - 'off field issues'

Torney - age.

Then a couple of kids.

They aren't hard decisions.

Getting rid of Doughty & Jericho would have been hard decisions.

Crowbots was a compliment a couple of years ago, now it's an insult.

Big deal if Pfeiffer likes having a good time - he's a kid. Give him a couple of years to grow up and get a taste of AFL Football, and see if he pulls his head in.

We need a bit of fun and passion as the Club.
