What I don't understand is why do teams delist someone then upcoming draft, they re-draft them?

I mean..what's the point of doing this?

put the fear of God into them. Sometimes kids dont know how privileged they`ve got things, especially playing for the AFL, and dont dont seem to realise that even a great of the game only gets 10 years if he`s lucky.

pissing around for the first two years is a good way to be back doing a $15/hr job at 25yo cursing how stupid you were.

This way he gets a glimpse of what his future is going to be unless he pulls his finger out.

Did it ever occur to you that the club seeing the kid day in day out 8 hours a day they may have POSSIBLY seen the inkling of some poor attitude towards the club, football, life in general etc that you with your seeing him play 2 hours every week in the SANFL might possibly have missed?

Given how completely wrong you have been calling Meesen the next '200 game gun' only for the rest of us to be finally proven right that he was a pea-hearted gug barely capable at the SANFL level, I would have thought you`d be more conservative before going off that another of your Norwood fanboi has exited the building.

Jason Torney is unlucky. Was one of our better players this year but is the wrong side of 30 and for this reason I guess it is kind of understandable. Still not happy about it though

Darren Pfeiffer - This kid carved it at SANFL level, and while its certainly not AFL level, he looked the kind of kid that would have a huuuuuge future.

Just on Darren Pfeiffer I wonder if his problem was not off field but more related to his application on the training track. He was sent back to Norwood in his first year because it was felt his commitment and effort wasn't there. He has had a few years to straighten this out but obviously it wasn't working. I don't buy the whole off field dramas stuff and I believe it cuts deeper than that. I would rookie list him or pick him up with our last pick if there isn't anything better available. If you don't put in the training there is no way you can expect to get games over someone who is busting their guts and relishing their opportunity.

Applying for the ND and Rookie-draft, is it the same process, as in if u apply for the ND do u automatically move to the rookie draft if u weren't pikd up? Or can u apply for both separately?

What was the go with thurgood last year with the hawks? he got delisted and then found himself a pot on their rookie list.

I am really hoping this was a intentional wake up call by the crows hierarchy to show him he cannot just ride a long an afl career without serious discipline and commitment. I for one commend the club for always stamping down on discipline because if you don't the players never give 100% and if they are not prepared to be grateful for the opportunity they have been given then they can find themselves another career option.

I'm just waiting for the rookie draft now and hearing pick 10 adelaide = Pfeiffer. I don't think the club could delist someone and then re-draft them in the same year via the ND.

Just don't want to see a player of pfeiffer's talent playing for anyone else otha then the crows.

There IS some upside, quite a bit of upside actually. It's a matter of getting some aggression and unconditional attack on the footy into his game.

Torney...WOW did not really see that comming, but obviously the club has taken a turn in direction and he was in the way. If anyone was stiff it was Torney...very under rated , had a great year and he will be missed.

Now what I think....gee guys some of the posts I have read on this site including the main board are simply embarrassing. We can all lay claim to going over the top at times but today has been pathetic to say the least.

I have read descriptions of how todays trades were catostrophic, how we are now doomed to failure, even deserved failure, its a disaster etc. The words" hate" have even appeared on our own board by some of our own aimed at our own.

We all have a passion, but this is not passion, its plain childish rubbish that is bloody embarrassing.

Opinions differ and always will but bloody hell some on here should grow up.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Also am I the only one who is actually quite excited about 2008? We don't know what to expect, a lot of youth coming in, the continued development of some existing youth, and some unpredictable forwards....can't wait to see how it all pans out.

I agree, seeing as McLeod, Edwards and Goodwin have only played one season in a poor SANFL side. Pfeiffer has been very harshly dealt with.

He had the good fortune of being drafted by a club in his own state, which virtually every draftee would give Stiffy's left testicle for.

But no - rather than apply himself and maximize his opportunity, he preferred to be a piss-head and get into strife repeatedly.

IMO he'll get picked up - maybe even by Port Adelaide - in either the national draft or the PSD. For his sake one can only hope that the piss-head realizes that he would then be on his last chance.

That's 2 bloody failures from Norwood - Gibson and Pfeiffer. I think we should avoid drafting from that club.

I feel sorry for Torney but as I posted several times once we picked up Symes, that spelt the end for Torney, for no other reason than we will be going through a mini rebuild even though the club won't admit it.

Perrie and Bode have been let down by their bodies and their time has come, while Hinge just hasn't shown anything special that demanded he stay on the list.

Dont think we will win a flag, but isnt cool watching the next crop come through. Discover if we have unearthed any gems , seeing how others in our club take on more responsability.

I am more excited about this than I would've been if we kept the group together.

Yes there are some dissapointments, and we feel for them and we might even feel as though our club has got some of it wrong.

But this club hasnt had upheaval like this for ( dare I say it ) 10 years now.

Cant wait, like you to see how it panns out.

He is hardly a 'GUN' and he did not 'rip it up' in the SANFL as some on here have suggested.Yes he had a good month and was in the best nearly every week during that time but he still was not dominating in those games. Look at our other young players Douglas, Vince, Knight (previous year) and the dominating games they have had at times. While I have only seen him play probably 10 times over the last 2 years he does have some class and skill but he also go missing alot which a good AFL player or prospect shouldn't.Off field issues don't help and attitude is also a problem.Grow up and who know he maybe back on the list. Really don't think he will be missed..... clearly the bigger isssue is of recruiting. I am sick of recruits not having the drive to put the hard work in the make the most of themselves. This should have been picked up before drafting him.

So what are you saying, we can be all self righteous as long as the player in question isn't one of our elites. So if McLeod did a Huddo and broke curfew by 30 minutes, he would have also been given a smack on the bot bot and sent to bed without supper.

Actually he was EXTREMELY hard working, in fact was a complete opposite to when he got drafted. But of course you relax when you get picked up, thinking the job is done when in fact it isnt even close.... plus you get a lot of money you never had before. To those calling him a pisshead...... this is also a very baseless claim. yes, his first indiscretion was after a big night out but the others were not.
