Crows delist 5

Torney is a sad one......I love him but I saw this coming ever since Clarke and Hart were shown the door last year. This is purely a matter of managing the age profile - and it's unfortunate that Torns is a victim.

Last year - Hart, Clarke
This - Roo and Torney

We still have McLeod, Biglands, Edwards, Goodwin and Bassett to manage.

For those of you unable to accept this - strap yourselves in for the the mature age delistings next year......;)

Perrie - yeah well...thanks for everything.

Bode - injuries - has had a bunch of chances to get his body right. Unfortunate that the only 2 genuine fwd line crumbers we've had have both been wrecked by injury.

Hinge - got plenty this size showing more.

Pfeiffer - thought they might have persisted - but not surprising really..

Gibson, Meesen, Pfeiffer - how could Drummond have got it so right when the club continues to get it so wrong....?

As someone else said earlier - I think Craigy owes the 50,000 members who pay their very hard earned money - some since day 1 - a detailed explanation as to the Jericho situation. If he could send a letter - or get on radio - or even post here through afccomau his thoughts and plans wrt Jericho - I think we could all just get on with our lives. I find this boy's continued presence on our list the most bewildering decision taken by the club since inception. People are able to stomach the tough decisions like Torney if they observe some consistency across the Board - and I would like the Club to give it's members an explanation - if only to put an end to the sniping for Luke's sake.

Anyway - the fact is - while I reserve my right to criticise and support - I'll always support the Club no matter what.....roll on 2008......:thumbsu:

With the loss of Torney, Mattner and Hudson where does this leave our aggressive/tough player stocks - desperately thin I would have thought. The only real aggressive players we now have on our list are Thomson and errrr.................................

I will put money on Port picking up Torney in the national draft or pre-season draft.

Gee he would be a perfect replacement for Michael Wilson:eek:

You make a valid point re toughness. We all saw in the Grand Final what happens to a team who lack some tough inside players come finals time.

The area that Symes lacks on Mattner is body and toughness. None of our rucks will compensate for that area of Hudson's game adn Torney is one of the most courageous blokes going around. Add the loss of Roo and Bode that we had this year and yes it's not the hard/tough Adelaide we knew from a couple years ago.

So who will fill the void? Thompson, van Berlo, Shirley all enjoy a contest. Reilly has improved in this area. Douglas while small certainly never shirks a contest and will improve his clearances at AFL this year IMO. Massie, Bassett, Johncock, Welsh all have a physical style of play about them when required. This factor may also be one tick in favour of Biglands playing, though i hope he is overtaken by years end. Of the others, Campbell is one who would provide some hardness at the ball, i for one would love to see him with more opportunity this year. Gallman also has good size for a young bloke but I'm not sure (others will know) whether he enjoys the physicality of the contest?

Certainly this may be an area of concern, we do lack a bit of old fashioned mongrel, but we do have enough players with hardness/intensity at the ball to get by IF they all step up together, hard running to get numbers at the contest, make up for potentially less clearances won by being skilful and creative on the rebound, and do not unbalance selection with too many 'outside only' players.

the only thing more 'sick' than torney getting delsited would be seeing him running around, hurting us in a showdown in POWER colours.....

i understand taking a youth policy, i DONT understand how the hell doughty survives the cut ahead of torney and even bode.....i dont give a **** if dogga has a contract, he's terrible...

crows know how to send great serving player out the right way dont they???

I reckon Torney will get picked up by Port. He still has 2 years of good footy left in him and Port will be a genuine threat in the next couple of years. All they require is a few more big-bodied, tough mature age players. Torney fits the bill perfectly.

Spot on, on both counts.

As I've said - we seem to like giving the appearance of making hard decisions; but we don't - we make easily justifiable decisions which look hard.

Torney delisted has me filthy - but even more so considering the fact that other players remain on our list who aren't as hard-working, aren't as courageous and aren't as passionate; yet they remain on our list, while Torney goes purely because of his age?

Imagine if the Australian Cricket Team did a similar thing?

And your last paragraph is also right, especially in relation to the bagging Drummond cops.

Supporting the Club doesn't mean being a yes man.

Especially when our Club follows the principles of 360 degree evaluation and is supposed to welcome constructive criticism.

They have made some bewildering decisions, which perhaps with some more public reasoning (the 'inclusive' part) a few of us might understand a bit more.

SpringChoke - If Torney is running around in that filthy teal next year, I'll have to cheer him on. And cheering on a Power player - I'll probably vomit on myself.

Hmm...

Pfeiffer? wtf?

So in two years...our plans to replace McLeod and Torney in the backlines ..one player came to mind.. Pfeiffer...who is it going to be now?? Jericho??

They'll re-draft Darren, I'll put $$ on it...pick 38 mark it down.

What a waste? Would like to get Nick Salter with pick 38? I don't think they'd use pick 38, but he'll probably be gone by pick 59 (damn). AFC have stuffed up IMO.

I have to be honest Drummond, aside from one game where he did a few good things, I haven't really rated him. Zero awareness, struggles a bit with decision making, we may rookie him or something but he has never set the world on fire and hence never made his debut.

Surely we can't rookie list him, he has been on a senior list already.

Won't happen!

Same thing was said about Hart last year when he was delisted ......and who picked him up ......No-one

If you had watched him carefully this year he was playing in spurts ......lost a bit of stamina for repeat contests and definately had slowed down

I dont see it happening

Perrie, 28, leaves Adelaide after playing 116 AFL games and kicking 129 goals in ten seasons. Drafted from East Perth with pick No 49 at the 1997 national draft, Perrie made his AFL debut in 1998.

Ok so because he liked to drink he's dumped. Yeh it really impacted his performances didn't it you :mad::mad::mad::mad: club.

Just turned 19, freaking future champion. UNBELIEVABLE YOU STUPID FOOTBALL CLUB, MEDIOCRITY IS YOUR FUTURE.
Never thought I'd see you defending someone due to alcohol ;)

Torney very stiff, just shows the direction the Crows are going in I guess.

I think to all those who are bemoaning the delisting of Torney, that he actually played a large role in this occurring. He wasn't sure if he wanted to play on any way and I think this had a large impact on the club deciding to delist him. He was struggling to get his body right week in and week out and was a victim of battering himself in the contest.

I love the way he played, but I'm pretty sure from what I've been told that he was no longer enjoying his footy, due to the number of injuries and pain that he was going through.

There is questioning the club and still showing support, and then there is Drummond. I hated Modra going really did think that was the biggest blunder ever. Never could see or understand the reason why. But my support for my club is there no matter how bewildering their decisions are at times.

Unfortunatly Drummond wears his heart on his sleeve, and lets emotion come before rational thinking. Shouting and crying and screaming will not change a situation. And sadly no matter how we all wish for the reasons on Jericho, Modra etc they will never be known.

That's what I mean.

If that's the case, the supporters should be told that.

Torney isn't some lacklustre kid - he's a valued and respected player and if there are reasons like that behind his delisting, we should be made aware of them.

If people are acting like this over Torney, and maybe rightly so, they'd better brace themselves for the exodous that will be occuring over the next 2 years. As was said, Jason played his own part in this, the great clubman his is wouldnt allow him to say "Oh I might be right to play, you gotta keep me on" He wasnt 100% sure and with all the others that are going to go, he didnt want it all to happen in 1 big hit.

Sad way for Torney to end his career, but the club has rightly needed to maker the tough decisions on the older players. Doughty having another year on his contract may not have helped JT's cause.

Most surprised about Pfeiffer as thought he was going OK for Norwood later in the year. Off field issues must have had some say in the decision.

AFC has correctly made the decision that we need to turn over more than usual numbers on our list.

An chance Jericho will be cut if a reasonable option becomes available in the PSD?

to be fair, it was the clubs decision to spend 2 1st round picks and a second round pick on these guys. at least drummond wants to stand behind these decisions :p
