Not true. Most Carlton supporters agree pick 14 in equitable. I'm in a minority and think it's cheap and we should be asking for more. Some other say less is OK. But again it's irrelevant what we all think, it's what the Carlton officials are insisting on that matters. I don't really know much about or take much notice of the sa crows team, but I guess what you need to ask yourselves is what other ruck you'll be able to get with your "compo pick". Any ideas?

Tipett and Maric would work fine and would let us actually get some games into Mckernan or midfielders to get some depth there if Moran doesn't come up we'll be lookin at doubling up on traded for dud rucks if they pick up jacobs, there is no certainty here.

Look, kiddo, you'll learn a lot as you watch a few trade weeks over the next few years. Basically, Carlton is "posturing" right now. What you'll come to learn is that Carlton won't get what they're asking for. It's called a "negotiation". Just to let you down gently - pick 14 just isn't going to happen.

The club isn't lying to you - it's just the standard posturing at the beginning of a negotiation.

Who says we will pursue another ruck? Going into this period, the clubs priority wasnt a ruck, it has been repeated a few times that we are after quick outside midfielders and perhaps another forward. But when the option of Jacobs came along the club has correctly gone for him. Does this mean we will be shattered if we dont get him? No it doesnt. We will continue with our agenda of going for a quick mid, it doesnt look we will get one in the trades hence they will grab one with pick 14 and I dare say with the compo pick as well.

Now Carlton might demand pick 14 but they might also get nothing.

The way this debating between Crows and Carlton supporters has gone on for the last 2 weeks has been embarrasing. As I have said on my board a couple of times it means jack shit. None of us are involved in the trades and people are carrying on like tools for no reason.

Well when you offer a 22yo ruck a 1 mill+ contract, that sort of says you're VERY keen on getting a new ruck i would have thought. Not sure what other conclusion you could draw from an offer like that. Will be interesting to see if the sa crows accept or reject the deal. Wouldn't be suprised if the Blues are already starting unofficial talks with other clubs as a fallback. Saints and Port maybe. Think we'll do very well out of this whoever we deal with. He's an in demand player. The crows will be kicking themselves for years and years if they miss out on Jacobs. We generously gave your club first crack. Anyway, no doubt your list management people will be weighing up whether to take Jacobs, or keep the draft pick and use someone like Sellar in the ruck, or even someone like Cam Cloke via the PSD. Can't see crows getting a quality ruck with that "Compo Pick". Maybe someone like Blake, maybe Josh Fraser if you threw in another pick as well.

Starting to suspect that Jacobs is perhaps too good for the Crows needs i.e out of your price range. Perhaps you need to address other glaring deficiencies first.

You listed some back up ruckman not our no 1 ruckman in Maric. Our back up if fit would be Moran. Also we have a number of guys who can play that back up ruckman role.

Don't know about a losing battle, but it's definitely a pointless one. We'll just have to wait & see what the outcome of trade week is. The start is only 4 days away...

I had a similar dispute with one of the Brisbane mods last year. In fact it was the day before the deal was done.

I said I would take nothing less than pick 12 AND Henderson for Fevola, he said "No you will not because we will NEVER offer you that!".

Now trust me! If you do not offer pick 14, or a good young KPF, then you can forget about getting Jacobs. I would rather have nothing then some draft pick in the 20's in a diluted draft and a steak knives set in Sellar.

In fact Sellar isn't a sweetener, he's a sourer. We are not going to lose a ruckman who has proven he has the goods and is only going to improve further given that he is just 22 years old and has strong determination for some bullshit deal.

You guys have bent many clubs over in the past especially Freo (Who hasn't ) with the McLeod deal. Even gave us Eccles for Massie (who turned out to be more than serviceable to you guys whereas Eccles didn't really do much for us).

You are not going to screw us over with Jacobs. Pick 14, a good young KPD or walk away and don't offer him $1mill over three years.
